Stay off your phone. Don't get too caught up in showing everyone that you're having a great time. Limit the selfies and stay off social media. Spend time with him, not girls from high school you don't see anymore.

Talk with him! Make sure that you are on the same page about what kind of vacation both of you want this to be. Ask him what would help make this an awesome trip. Does he want to hang out all the time, or would he like some time to himself? Will evenings be spent out on the town or quietly at the hotel/air bnb/resort/etc.? Is this trip going to be about romance, or adventure, or relaxation? Having expectations set before hand can really help minimize the stress of traveling, as well as get rid of any potential letdown if you were expecting something different than your SO.

General good planning can make a trip so much more pleasant. Know where and when you are going to eat! Hanger is a travel enemy, at least in my case. Protect your bank cards, let your bank know that you're going to be traveling so they can help you keep your money safe. Read up on popular scams pulled on tourists in the area you'll be staying. Pack medication for things like food poisoning and diarrhea, because you do not want to be looking around for a place to purchase them on the off chance someone gets sick. Also, 8 days can go by quickly, so don't stress too much if you miss some activities you had planned. Research a lot! Check Pinterest and travel guides if you haven't already to get a good idea of what there is to do and see in your area. Pick three or four things you REALLY want to do, and prioritize them. Get them done, and you'll leave feeling fulfilled.

And as always, keep being kind and loving to your SO. Travel presents so many challenges and stresses you might not experience in everyday life (not understanding the language, getting lost, etc.) which can really test people's patience. Do your best to not let it get to you! Vacation is a time to do what you like, so don't let any potential hiccups, as horrible as they may seem in the moment, keep you from having a good time with your SO. I hope you really enjoy your vacation!

I dont know where in the caribbean you plan to go but be careful. Look for travel advisories from the state dept. and other places.

Prepare for the worst. Many people get sick or have minor injuries on a trip. Have some supplies just in case (hankies, nosespray, something to settle an upset stomach, painkiller, band-aids). Don't eat or drink anything shady! Don't get sunburned or robbed or lost (well, getting lost can be much fun if you find youe way back, but can also end badly).

Being with your fav person will always be wonderful if you can minimise the bad stuff.
