When she pushed for a date, my thought was "but she was already into you!" Which you did address in your closing. One thing for sure though, you were definitely in her frame and you definitely broke out of it by being less available. The old me would've been giddy if some girl put her fingers on my lips and told me "another time." Now I'd feel like a fool, especially with me paying for everything on our date and driving her around. Nah..I'm going to keep it real.. Sometimes when I have no abundance I still become susceptible to being strung along with shit like that.

I don't know if this is the best example of soft nexting. But I was really impressed when after the date you had the instropection and self respect to realize you weren't going to be chasing or waiting on a woman who you had already given your time and attention to. Some of us take weeks or months to get there and make that conviction. Well done.

In my opinion, scarcity is much more of a filter than a "tool to make her love you".

If you become truly unavailable, she will either have two options: if she's genuinely interesed in you, she will keep pushing; if she feels you're not enough for her, she won't.

I think scarcity by itself wont make her like you more than whatever much she already does; but in case she does like you enough, scarcity will make her go for it.

So, you got salty that you didn't get laid on the first date (not at all uncommon), blanked her for it, clearly took no interest in her personally, just her genitalia, and now you somehow attribute that to her calling you up. Maybe she was just... y'know... free that evening?
