Does this sub-reddit believe in love and affection?
Yes, we do. A lot of this subreddit is understanding the way that love and affection works between men and women. There are many married RP members (I am one) here and we use RP theory to greatly improve the relationships we have with the women in our lives.
We seek to cultivate the behaviors in men, that inspire love, affection and attraction in women.
How that attraction is acted upon is up to individual members. Some use it for casual relationships and one night stands, others look at more of a long term view.
What are some major ideals?
Understanding how attraction actually works between men and women, vs what society and feminist tells us, and trying to instill those qualities and values within ourselves.
We aren't really a social movement like /r/MensRights because we realize we can't change the world. We have deep believers that traditional gender roles are pretty much hard coded into our respective DNA's.
We want to make the most of the world we are in.
That's my personal view anyway.

I'll have to check out the women's one. Not that I have a problem with the commitment. It does seem neat, though. I strongly disapprove of modern feminism.

Yeah, check out /r/RedPillWomen
You're just as welcome here.
Despite what the rest of Reddit says, we are quite welcoming of women.
We just aren't welcoming of loudmouth feminists here to lecture.

We reserve the colourful commentary for the turbocunts.

I don't think that anyone in this subreddit seriously believes in love as it's sold to us in modern times. It's essentially a chemical cocktail in your brain as a result to certain stimuli that has been exalted and raised to the status of some sort of inexplicable supernatural or even religious belief, sort of like the belief in the "human soul."
While you may have an actually equitable relationship with your boyfriend where you get all the stimuli required to be in "love" with him or maybe even loyal to him and you give him a good return for what gives you, you should understand that is far from the rule when it comes to modern relationships and possibly relationships historically in general.
A few years down the road when the newness of your chemical high wears off you may find yourself wandering when you see a bigger better deal come along, a phenomenon often referred to as the "X year itch" or a "feral mating cycle" which is essentially a period of time, maybe 4-7 years where a woman could have a child with a man, and have that child grow up enough that it doesn't require constant all-day supervision. Women often divorce these days for vague reasons like "I need to find myself" which is all-too-often code for wanting a new man.

Well, I don't really consider love a feeling. Or a chemical mixture. I think it's more something you do. I love the Captain like I work in my garden or carry a bag around. Of course, there are those nice chemicals that go along with it sometimes. But it's more about the actions than anything.

I strongly suggest "The Road Less Traveled", to learn about what love truly is. It teaches that love is a decision and an action - something you do, as you said. It debunks the myth of romantic love. People don't just "fall in love" uncontrollably and love is not just a feeling. A person chooses to love and take loving action. The more spiritually developed a person is the more they are capable of loving.
It's a good "redpill" type of book to learn about defense-mechanisms, laziness, lack of discipline, and other impediments to spiritual growth, along with true nature of love, accepting responsibility, understanding your unconscious and it's role, and the acceptance of the first line of the book - "Life is difficult."

I think TRP's take on it is not that love exists or doesn't exist. We don't need to define it - what is important is you choose to think of love (and apply that) in a way that objectively benefits you and your partner. It's about the bottom line - is this feeling / chemical cocktail / spiritual bond / whatever you define it as producing good results?
If you're "love" is driving you to be needy, controlling, etc, then I would say it isn't love, just you rationalizing your desire for validation, control, etc as something noble rather than facing the truth. If you're love is driving you to be more confident, open, feminine, etc, then it is "real" as far as I'm concerned.

I once thought I would fall in love and marry a girl. This idea was sold to me by movies that getting married to a woman was the end all be all of your life. Marry a woman, grow old, have kids, have a house, etc, but as I grew older and more confident I realized that the way I've perceived women and my interactions towards women were all wrong. Deep down I knew there was something wrong, but I could never put my finger on it. TRP really helped put things in perspective. Girls don't like guys who act like the people from romance movies.
I don't think I'll ever fall in love tbh, maybe it's the bitter reality of knowing that the world doesn't work like I once believed. I'm glad that old part of me is slowly dying because I like who I'm becoming. I owe TRP everything.

Unrelated, can I ask how you found TRP?

We were recently voted worst (or second worst, whatever) subreddit, hence the influx.

I know, that's why I asked.

From the worst subreddit every post.

Here's how I see it.
Love, like respect, is different for a man and a woman. This, in itself, is the main difference between a feminist-based perception of relationships and what seems to be a reality based one - that there is in fact a difference between how the sexes experience one another. So what a lot of people call "love" is usually the feminine version of it. Caring about how the other person feels and so on. The touchy-feely business we give you a hard time for on Valentines day. For a man, love is in the caretaking itself. It's completely different.

god bless you submissive women. If only there were more pretty ones.

There are loads, especially the pretty ones.
[–]sometimesiamamoose[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
We're all pretty. Beauty is objective, and though some people aren't aesthetically pleasing, attraction works in weird ways. That being said, I'm terribly vain, and I'm pretty sure I'm at least an eight.

what I've noticed (escpecially around the BDSM community) is that most of the submissives are obese, hence the remark
I'm small.

It is much more than that. Men are here for different reasons but the sub doesn't "teach men to be promiscuous." It teaches men to reclaim their masculinity, understand the landscape of today's feminized society, and how to navigate said landscape successfully. How they apply this knowledge is personal. Some men want to have lots of sex with different women, some men want a long-term relationship and learn how to increase the odds that their partner will remain happy, attracted, and monogamous with him.
Most men probably want love and affection, but for some this isn't their goal. The red pill doesn't teach men to be one or the other, it's theory and knowledge, and to each man his own.
[–]ArtilleryCamel 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What I mean to say is that this sub doesn't tell us to be promiscuous, but rather teaches us how to be. And yes there is a lot more to it than that but that's the jist of it as far as an outsider is concerned.

We teach how to "win" by obtaining sex while giving little commitment. /r/redpillwomen roots for women by teaching how to obtain commitment with little sex.
A little friendly competition, if you will.
