Preface:

So apparently FLCL is coming back with another episode. I don't know how many of you in this subreddit are former (or current) anime-philes, but this was probably one of the most feel inducing, red pill shows I ever watched as a young teenager. It's a short, 6 episode series illustrating every red pill trope in it's most poignant, emotional chaffing context, all from the point of view of a young, fledgling 12 year-old blue pill protagonist who doesn't know any better. The story mostly pivots around our "hero" being emotionally exploited by his older brother's ex-girlfriend (17) for throw away emotional comfort and revenge, while his 20 year-old, live-in house keeper steals his heart and uses it for personal gain. It's short, it's gritty, and it deals with adult themes in mature ways while accurately capturing how they get filtered through that young adolescent point of view that's just starting to figure out how broken the world really is. While it might not be for everyone, it is interspersed with childlike comedic scenes and inside weeaboo jokes, I would still recommend watching the first episode just to know what this cultural phenoma was all about.

Now to my actual question:

What piece of teenage targeted media (be it cinema, television, music) do you find was loaded with red pill truths and tropes that, looking back, you now see are glaringly obvious?
