Everyone missed it.

So why am I celibate? More than a decade ago I was in a relationship when I discovered that I had a neurological condition that is likely, in time (I know not when), to deteriorate.

So he's got some kind of possibly hereditary condition where he might lose his mind or become some kind of vegatable in the near future.

He's actually realizing that he's carrying DNA that has a problem.

Imagine telling your LTR:

"Yes, well if we have children they will carry this defect too. It's nearly certain their lives will be effected."

...that's a tough sell.

Would you want to pass on some kind of genetic defect?
