Intro: A study looked at how oral contraceptives (OC) influenced women's mate choices and the implications that had downstream in the relationship. Here's the full article, I recommend at least skimming through the results section as I'm sure my snippets below haven't done it justice.
Body:
"Women who used OC [oral contraceptives] during partner choice (compared with non-users) scored lower on sexual arousal with their partner, on satisfaction with his sexual adventurousness, and on sexual proceptivity and attraction towards him. They also rated their partner's body lower in attractiveness compared with non-users."
Women pick guys with a dad bod and aren't as sexually satisfied as they could be with Brad Pitt.
"Women who used OCs rejected sex and engaged in compliant sex less frequently than non-users if the relationship was relatively new, but did so more frequently in longer relationships."
When she first met you, thinking about how to spend your 6-figure salary turned her on, but as time passed she wanted something more exciting than being able to shop at Whole Foods or buy organic fruits and vegetables. Apparently deep pockets aren't all you need to be sexually satisfied.
Women no longer with their partner retrospectively assessed the same relationship attributes. Among these women, there was no relationship between OC use during partner choice and recalled general relationship satisfaction, or frequencies of compliant sex and sexual rejection. However, women who used OCs during partner choice recalled being less sexually satisfied and rated their ex-partner as less attractive compared with non-users
Looking back, she still doesn't think you were hot. In general she felt like a queen because you put the pussy on a pedestal, but it was just a chore to actually have sex with you.
"Women who used OCs during partner choice were disproportionately likely to have initiated the separation if it occurred (84.8%: 196/231 of separations were initiated by the woman rather than the male partner) compared with non-users (73.6%: 349/474) ... However, despite this, we found that separation rate was lower if the woman was using OC during partner choice
Betas are less likely to leave a girl and are more likely to satisfy her emotional and financial needs, just not her sexual tingles. I can already imagine working all day, then coming home and listening to her problems all night, just to be told that she has a headache when we get in bed. I truly can't contain my excitement to get married one day.
"However, as relationships progress, there may potentially come a tipping point at which a woman's sexual dissatisfaction outweighs non-sexual satisfaction. Evidence for this includes the finding that, among women using OC during partner choice, sexual dissatisfaction (compliant sex and sexual rejection) intensifies in relatively long relationships, while there was no change in non-users."
"I just want a guy that can make me feel like a woman and not a mother"
Summary: Oral Contraceptives trick the body into thinking it's pregnant. This changes women's preferences in men. Their preferences change from a man with high testosterone to a man that can provide. While this causes relationships to last longer, it also causes women to be more likely to reject sexual advances or have compliant sex in the later stages of the relationship (11+ years). This change in preference also causes women to be even more likely to end a relationship (+11%).
Insight: She doesn't want to have sex with me, but when she does it's because she feels bad for me. That and she's 11% more likely to be the one to leave me. This is just some hypothetical gf/wife but I still feel like I'm nothing more than a paycheck to her.
I firmly believe that competition breeds excellence and that if no girl thinks I'm interesting then I can work to have a more fulfilling life. Ideally, I'd just be judged by girls not on the pill, but that isn't realistic since so many girls take birth control these days. If I ever end up wanting a LTR, then my plan going forward will be to carefully watch how she describes my positive traits so that I can make sure that I don't just add up to a provider.
