I took the red pill about nine months ago. I'm pretty much in the acceptance stage, but I still get angry and bitter on occasion reading the posts here. (The most recent incident being about the ideological lynching of the Mozilla CEO by SJWs). Sometimes I like to re-charge the batteries by thinking of other things.

And so I was reading an article about an infirm old lady who had adopted a rescue dog, and this little critter never left her side.

Man's Best Friend, the maxim goes. How true it is. Prior to waking up, I used to joke that instead of getting married, I'd just get a dog or two. Since taking RP, this actually seems like a good idea.

Dogs are the perfect red pill pet. I don't know of any incidences - either firsthand or anecdotally - of dogs behaving in a hypergamous manner. Shit! My owner sucks - I'm going to find a better pack/pack leader... It just doesn't happen.

They are intensely loyal and are always glad to see you.

Cats. Cats, on the other hand... cats are the women of the pet world. Selfish, self-centered, wanting everything on their terms. I know of numerous cases where cats have moved house to a better deal. I confess to looking down on cat owners. Sorry - the cat's staff. People tell me about how smart cats are, but how many bomb sniffing cats are there? Seeing-eye cats for the blind? Avalanche rescue cats?

Cats are whimsical creatures who will turn on you in a dime. There's no loyalty there. They are fickle, irrational and spiteful. I'm going to pee in your closet and wake you at 3am. Drama. Sound familiar?

No wonder cats are ubiquitous in the reddit-sphere. Half-ass pets for half-ass owners just phoning it in. A real pet - a dog - requires discipline and commitment. Greater responsibility. Harder work, but as we all know, with hard work, the rewards are greater.

EDIT: We joke about crazy, bitter, single cat-ladies. Like attracts like.
