I’m a vegan, and I don’t see anything wrong with that. I get all my vital nutrients, amino acids, vitamins, etc. I’m at a healthy weight and I feel fantastic. I live the lifestyle I do because I have great empathy for animals, and never want to contribute to the suffering of another life if I don’t have to. That said, I’m very far-right, and I am not a vegan that feels the need to constantly push everyone around them to be. I respect people whether they eat vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous. It’s a personal choice.
Also, I feel like the depression aspect could be because a lot of vegans and vegetarians sink into a bit of depression because in their eyes, it’s like everyone around them is getting abortions on the daily (I am not one of these overly-sensitive types). It could also just be because they don’t eat correctly at all, I see a lot of vegans ignore complete proteins.
[–][deleted]-5 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Now see if they could just solve that empathy issue... they’d eat meat.
[–]Espressosaur3 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
My point is there’s nothing wrong with it, just let people eat the diets they want 🤷🏻♀️
[–]Malicious234 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Point is that in my country these vegas try to manipulate everyone and everything even to higher the taxes on meat 'because its bad 4 u' and 'muh animals' and they are gaining fucking traction.
Vegans are fucking disgusting people.
ps: also read you dont take b12 supplements, better start taking them now, or you know, eat a healthy diet so you dont have to rely on 21st centuray medicine.
[–]Espressosaur2 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I don’t take it as a supplement, b12 is added to basically all plant milks, and it’s in nutritional yeast which is an ingredient I put in most of my dinners. I eat a very healthy diet, and am a very happy person. I don’t eat soy though, I just don’t like it very much.

You're disgusting hypocrite. There are no known good sources of B12 from non-animals. Guess where your B12 comes from? You're just hiding the source of your animal nutrients.
[–]abc123SuckMyD1 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Animals only provide enough b12 because they are fed supplements.
You're disgusting hypocrite
Jfl at how angry you are
No, they provide enough B12 because of bio accumulation. There's no getting around that if you can't make concentrated B12, even though we humans don't really need much, but we need a steady supply.
Does the truth hurt? Aren't members of your church supposed to know this?
[–]Malicious230 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
added -> processed foods -> healthy.
not sure old man.
I mean, plant milk isn’t very processed and it’s the most processed thing I eat, other than that I just cook whole foods like nuts, seeds, grains, beans, veggies, fruit, etc
[–]Malicious235 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Okay so you put a lot of effort in your diet and eating 'healthy', well healthier than average for sure. So no shit that you are going to be healtier than the run of the mill soda slurping fatmerican. But thats not the effect of eliminating animal products.
but anyway go ahead, lets see how your kids turn out https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27280539
My kids won’t eat vegan, my husband isn’t vegan, and I’d allow my kids to chose the diet they’d like as long as they’re not chowing down on chips and candy. I have good muscle mass, no health problems, and I eat an appropriate amount of calories. I don’t understand your problem with me

At every anti-smoker campaign there will be that 1 guy claiming he smokes and he is healthy. At every against obesity campaign there will be these plussized woman claiming they are healthy and beautiful.
And here are you.
[–]SereneL21 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I hope you realize, that the B12 in your meat is also supplemented because the animals aren't grown in their natural habitats and drink the same water we do. B12 isn't something that grows in animals and a lot of meat eaters are also B12 deficient. Definitely worth checking out.
Nutrition is a wonky topic in general. A lot of shortcuts are being taken to provide enough food for over 7 billion humans and if you're looking for the "natural" way to eat, you won't find it.
[–]Espressosaur0 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Except that I’m not obese. I do not have any existing health issues, and I just choose to eat a certain way that has had no negative effect on my health. I do not in any way shape or form try to make others vegan, all I want is for people to respect personal choice. This entire thread is why it’s tough to be a conservative vegan, because people immediately get triggered as soon as you mention the fact that you restrict your own diet. It’s a free country, do what you want.
[–]4nt43us2 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Vegans are so fucking dumb this is my point exactly. This person has to add fortified, processed, 'plant' milk into their diet and think they are sticking by a 'healthy' diet

[–]abc123SuckMyD0 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
For the record, meat eaters only get enough b12 because they supplement the animals and it ends up in the meat. You should consider what else you don't know.
[–]German88353 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Do you have your B12 supplements? And do you eat soya? If yes, that’s the root of your emotions towards animals. Go check your T levels. And read Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations.
I don’t take b12 or eat soy.
don’t take it as a supplement, b12 is added to basically all plant milks, and it’s in nutritional yeast which is an ingredient I put in most of my dinners. I eat a very healthy diet, and am a very happy person. I don’t eat soy though, I just don’t like it very much.
you have a severe case of cognitive dissonance. You literally just said you eat plant milk that has fake B12 added to it - so yes you take fake b12 to supplement your diet.
And what do you think your B12 is, not fake? Factory farmed meat is supplemented with B12 because the animals aren't raised in the wild and they can't obtain it from the earth and water. B12 doesn't just magically manifest itself in meat. Same as vitamin D in milk, also supplemented.
[–]German88351 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You get vitamin d just by being in the sun
That's correct. And if you live in a cold and dark country, you can't get it from the sun, so you either supplement or eat something fortified. Personally I only supplement for a few months in the winter.

Of course, and I have no issue with vegan in the society as long that they let me eat what I want and that I don't have to live with them.
But I would not want to be with a vegan woman because she has values that I find deeply detrimental to my children and my own well being.
On top it's true that from the outside it seems that the vegan group tend to have more pyschological issues than the overall population. Doesn't mean it is the case of a particular vegan, of course.
its a woman, ofc they are more emphatic.

Let me give you some feedback as I was a 26 years blue pill meat eater and now a 5 years red pill vegan.
I was a meat eater for 26 years of my life and during those times I was full force blue pilled. Nearly obese, virgin, orbiter and generally disgusting. Zero self esteem, at one point I didn't brush my teeth and thought there's no point to take care of myself because I'm a disgusting human anyway, so whats the point?
After a girl crushed my blue pilled self particularly hard I started getting first into RSD, but then switched to more red pill concepts rather than pickup perse. Started to open my eyes to truths about myself and about the world that I was willfully ignoring. Started taking action where I was passive before.
Me going vegan was part of the things that defined my red pill transition. It helped me get lean, but I didn't do it for that, I did it for the animals. I stopped delaying watching the documentaries I knew would shake me to the core and I did watch them. Then as I was lifting, eating right and getting leaner, I completely transitioned to a vegan lifestyle.
Outside of avoiding animal exploitation I don't see how my lifestyle is any less red pill than a meat eaters. What just because I don't eat meat, I suddenly can't spin plates?
And yeah vegans feel bad sometimes, but that's very similar to red pilled people who feel bad about the truths they learned about women. You had one imagination of what women are, but the reality was completely different and maybe you don't like that. Well before I was vegan I was willfully choosing to ignore and not think about what's on my plate and how it came there. Now that I know and understand, I can't just turn that knowledge off, okay? You live with that burden for the rest of your life. Now I'm not saying that all people should follow my path, you live the way you want to live. My path is to face the world with open eyes to both all the good and all the evil in it.
A lot of people conflate vegans with SJWs. We really dislike SJWs and hardcore liberals because their values on paper align with ours, yet as we're well aware they are hypocrites and apply those values to whatever suits them.
One last thing - if you felt compelled to open a topic like this, to me it means you're insecure about something and you should look into that. You shouldn't need to put down other people so you can feel good about yourself and this is exactly what you're doing now.
[–]RedSkeller1 point 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Same here. I’m vegan, don’t like to preach about it in real life, get shit on constantly for it and laugh it off. It’s funny how I get let down when I see posts like this, or people putting down the lifestyle when this is suposidly raw real world thinkers. You could have 20 people chime in for an answer about the true nature of women but the second you bring up diet people bring up broscience and religion as credible sources.

I'm a meat eater but if people wanna go vegan and are getting their nutrients then good for them. Not my place to tell others how to eat. Tim Scheiff, winner of Ninja Warrior UK is a prominent vegan and fit as fuck so it shows it can be done healthily. If you're a vegan but haven't done your research and aren't getting your nutrients then you're probably an idiot, but that's down to an individual.

Stright from his wiki
"He had been a vegan since 2012 due to ethical and health reasons.[4][5] In 2018, while trying to heal some gut problems, he had a meal of salmon and raw eggs, but said it wasn't something he'd do again.[6][7] As a result, vegan clothing company ETHCS dropped him from their label.[8]"
lol
"Shieff supports various unconventional methods to improve health. On his YouTube channel, Shieff states that he believes water-fasting with distilled water can relieve the body from the task of digesting food, allows it to focus more energy on healing injuries and diseases.[9] He also shows his support for cannabidiol, inclined bed therapy and urine therapy, appearing in October 2018 on popular YouTube channel London Real where he consumed his own urine, stating that urine “is from you and it’s for you.”.[10][7][11] Shieff also completed a 35 day water fast in July 2018 [12]"
and hes a fucking weirdo on top.

Veganism is good short term if done right, but over the long term it causes a decline in health. Look at Carl Lewis as a prime example.

Was a vegan 6 months, in which I deteriorated to a stick for a body, could only work half days because of plumeted energy levels, and got depressed and solitary.
Our digestive systems and everything about our biology points to us being natural carnivores. We NEED meat.
Since eating meat again I gained 10 pounds, got buffed and toned, got energy out the ass and an content and in a good place again.
All the climate and ethical reasons are all PROPOGANDA. There are big corporations who make a lot of money of the vegan boom. It’s cheap to produce and they can ask high prices because of hype and because people think it’s “healthy”.

This extremely misleading. There is a strong will, discipline, and determination (which are important principles any man should follow) that are developed through living such a lifestlye. There are in fact numerous benefits to eating a vegan diet over a non-vegan diet including a lower risk of developing cancer. As for all of these depression claims that all simply boils down to correlation doesn't equal causation. Also when you are aware that there is a system of widespread animal genocide and torture all for human greed it tends to put a dim outlook on things. And if you haven't guessed by now I am a vegan myself and have never been healthier, leaner, or more muscular in my entire life. Look up vegan athletes just to prove some of the improvements a lifestyle change could have. It also prevents less suffering within a world already drowning in it. Also being a passionate savage really gets the womens interest piqued.

Yeah, I am sure that depression and anxiety are the only things that define is some diet healthy or not. Fucking cherry picking. What about showing studies that have given opposite results:
A 2012 study published in the journal Appetite examined the mental health of 486 vegans, vegetarians, semi-vegetarian, and non-vegetarians. These researchers found no meaningful differences in depression scores between the groups. [1]
Researchers from Benedictine University reported that, among 620 subjects recruited from diet-related social networks, there were no differences in depression scores among vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. The meat-eaters did, however, have higher anxiety and stress scores than the vegetarians and vegans. [1]
In a 2010 study published in Nutrition Journal, Arizona State University investigators found that Seventh Day Adventists who were vegetarians had lower depression, anxiety, and stress scores than meat-eating Adventists. [1]
And those are just correlations anyway and don't prove a causal relation.
"What is going on? I can think of a couple of possibilities. First, it could be the case that vegetarian diets actually produce biological changes in brain chemistry, or even the microbiome, that causes some people to be depressed. I am a bit skeptical of this explanation, but the German study mentioned above found that 34 percent of people with depression started on a vegetarian diet before the onset of their mental disorders, compared to 9 percent of people with anxiety disorders.
I think it is more likely that some traits may predispose some people to both depression and to vegetarianism. Women, for example, are twice as likely as men to suffer from depression, and there are also more female vegetarians than male vegetarians. And, while the evidence is mixed, some personality types may also be particularly drawn to vegetarianism. In addition, vegetarian diets can be isolating. A woman who recently became a vegan told me that she suddenly gets fewer dinner invitations from old friends: They don’t know how to cook for her. And one young woman told me, “I won’t go out with anyone who is not a vegetarian. It limits my pool of possible men.” Further, social reasons rank high when former vegetarians and vegans are asked why they returned to meat. (See Why Do Most Vegetarians Go Back To Eating Meat?)
Finally, as several animal activists pointed out to me after this post was initially written, the vegetarian-depression link could be the result of moral commitment. As Lori Marino, executive director of the Kimmela Center for Animal Advocacy wrote on Facebook, vegetarians and vegans are more aware of the cruelties of the world and this is more depressing than living in a state of ignorant bliss. Lori is right. Indeed, the emotional and psychological costs of devoting your life to animal protection was a major theme in one of my first studies of human-animal relationships.
In short, we don’t know why the rates of depression seem substantially higher among vegetarians than in omnivores. But we do know that “correlation does not imply causality” and “more research is needed.” [1]
I really hate when someone is giving nutrition "recommendation" ideology first and obviously from a biased and purpose-driven perspective.

Dude. Anxiety is just a feeling you get when you are looking toward something and you have a fear that it won’t go your own way. Depression is just a feeling where you don’t know what you are and where to go. Because people who get depressed realize consciously or unconsciously that pursuing of material pleasures is nothing but working for instant gratification, trying to find happiness from things outside of your control.

Veganism is a misplaced sense of empathy.
Having empathy for the stuff you've evolved to eat is not a good thing.
Empathy is healthy for human relationships. We have empathy to help us interact with other people, not to make us feel bad for eating animals.
What did we evolve to eat?

Kinda. It's health craze combined with a religion.
It is not healthy for your body or your mind.
True, it's hard to keep a balanced diet when you're not eating 90% of what your body is used to.
Period. We are meant to eat meat.
False. You can eat a diet of 100% fish or insects, and never have a health problem. Don't project your own culinarie culture onto every other human.

Following a vegetarian diet for nearly 3 years now. I don't accuse anyone who eats meat and i don't even care about other people's eatung habits, even though my choice was made out of ethical reasons. For those who think i am skinny: no I'm not. I'm hitting the gym 3-4 times a week and i look more muscular than many of my meat eating friends (i eat a lot of milk products). I'm kind of an evidence that you don't necessarily NEED meat - instead you need Nutrients, which can also be obtained by eating eggs, milk products and various kinds of vegetables. Imagine a cow: a cow also needs it's nutrients but a cow only eats plants..enough evidence for me to not stick to meat (besides i wouldn't be used to the taste anymore, means that i couldn't just start eating meat again bc it would disgust me probably) My conclusion: stay alpha and don't care about when vegans/veggies/meat eaters tell shit about ur lifestyle. Just do how u please.

Vegans rely mostly on carbs and fats. Carbs aren't necessary and do more harm in larger quantities than meat. If you're going to go vegan for your health, then you should completely cut out most sugars and all gluten. Then you're left with.. well.. just leaves

Eating meat coupled with the ability to cook it allowed us to increase our brain size significantly and allowed us to reduce our gut size and the necessity to constantly eat.
Basically, fire and meat made us humans.
Massive source of easily digestible macronutrients.
But, enjoy that kale salad. IDNGAF. More steak for me.
That said, I believe everyone should go hunt, kill, gut, skin, butcher, and eat their own kill. It's an education re. top of the food chain.
Harvesting the still warm liver, heart and kidneys of a deer you yourself have just shot, taking them back to camp and cooking them in a cast iron pan over a wood fired stove in the middle of nowhere with other guys you share your kill with is an invaluable experience. Hanging, skinning, aging, butchering, and packing that meat out on your back is likewise an educational experience.
Appreciate the fact we have meat prepackaged and available. But realize where those little styrofoam trays get their contents. Be ok with that. Don't waste, don't take for granted, but use what is available.
