As a rule, I don't fuck with waitresses or cashiers or women in a service role. I've had limited success with bartenders but those are outlier events.
They are a great avenue to exercise your conversational skills and practice game, but taking the leap and "asking a girl out" in the service industry is really an unfair fight. They're working, they get hit on all the time, and if they were inclined to accept your advances it may reflect badly upon them in the quasi professional environment they are in. If you have an in with them, such as a mutual acquaintance or long term rapport, your chances are infinitely better.
Judging a woman's behavior in a service setting is difficult as it revolves purely around them receiving money. It's why places like hooters work so well. They'll be flirty, touchy and put an arm around you because they make more money if you think they like you.
This will sound bad, but use cashiers and the like as training dummies. Work on your wit, banter, and boost your confidence. Don't treat them like shit, treat them like a girl you'd want to take home, but don't pull that trigger. It's way better to walk away with a confidence boost than a blind rejection just because of the setting you met in.

Women in the service industry will let YOU know when they're interested. Like free drinks or sitting with you after their shift. That's the test I use, if they don't want to sit with you after their shift, you have 0 chance and she was nice for tips.

I worked in the service industry for a few years before teaching, and I know completely that. It's been a while since I've been in it, though, and it's pretty interesting looking from the other perspective again. That's good advice.
However, how can you apply this theory to cashiers? It's not like they're going to say "Here, just take this box of condoms for free"
[–]AnAmericanComposer[S] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I can see your point. I can put myself in shoes like that. I'll try and keep that kind of thing in mind for the future. I want to be getting out there and trying, but I don't want to be putting undue pressure on people. Thanks for the advice.

They're called "Hired Guns" for a reason.
[–]thebillstone 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup, it is a waste of time to number close or try to on waitresses. If you do get a number, don't call or text it.
You really have to work with them or meet them in a social environment after work. Just meet them anywhere besides in their workplace when they are working.
During work they have that work frame. Women are like robots, the context they are in has one function and any sway from that is inappropriate to them.
[–]TheSebitti1 point 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I agree. You have a much greater chance if you're within that social circle. Unless you enjoy the challenge...

Good job man.
Discard all comments here analyzing what you said or she answered. Focus on getting that approach anxiety out of the way as you did.
In Bang, Roosh has some pretty good tips on getting that stage sorted.. in case you need more.
I like the responses. Good, bad, worse, IDC. I've been a YouTuber for 6 years, and have gotten used to criticism. I think most things that aren't pure cancer have a gem of legitimacy in it, somewhere, even if the parlaying of the message was bad.
Thank you very much! Yes, I'm very proud of myself, too, for taking the plunge. It feels good to be a red-blooded male for once. I even approached a female friend of mine the next day and said "wanna go out Sunday?" and she agreed. My confidence definitely was BOOSTED from the encounter, not diminished!

Roosh V.? The book is titled Bang?

Yep. http://www.bangguides.com/game/bang/. That page looks shit but it's the best info on Game you can find (IMO). Totally worth your money and time and efforts to apply his tips.

What if she said 'yes' and they get married? What now TRP?
What if it turned into the later scenes of Borat? I throw a sack over her head and carry her out the doors?
[–]terminal_block 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well technically it's not the worst possible outcome.
After she said no, and said "the worst thing you can get is 'no'", I responded with "well you could stab me in the stomach". She says, "Well I would get fired."
Comedy gold there, fellas.
Went home, wept into my coffee and proceeded to slice my wrists with a rusty screwdriver in the backyard. So, typical day. The rejection didn't make my emotional state any worse than before!
(... /s ...)
In all seriousness, though, it was so harmless. I literally walked away and chuckled, like wow that actually felt really good. Stunning how unstunning it is, really.

This is awesome man. Kudos to you and passing that first step.
Now the boyfriend?? Some girls spew that out of nervousness! Like many said, could be a shit test or not, but you also made yourself available to her. Once you ask them out, they'll think about it every time you see them. If you run into her however, I'd act like she didn't faze you. Ask her some normal shit that you would ask any of your friends. Look into her eyes. Be assertive. Be fun. Let her regret what she denied. Who knows she might just drop the hint she's free for the weekend. Feel it out. After a couple of 'run ins' ask her out again. If her answer doesn't change, then she's not worth your time :)

This. I really like this comment. See, the organization of the letters, the length of the sentences, the vertical size of the paragraph... pure textual porn right there.
Not to mention the content of it, as well. Fantastic advice. I certainly wasn't going to avoid her after this encounter, but I figured I'd lay off the charm, but I can totally see why I should keep this going, and see where it goes. Her literal response was "I have a boyfriend, and I don't think he'd like that [I gave you my number]". I can see that being bullshit.
Great, great advice. Thanks a lot!

The boyfriend test is a reminder for HER, not a rejection. Success lies in A&A. Play it cool, and press for the number.
"Oh yeah? Invite him, he can watch us eat and talk..."

Smart? She's a cashier. With the 8 looks she would be flying up the corporate ladder if she bothered to study something useful.
Supposedly she got into some high-end college, was only cashiering on the side for a month.

Good for you, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
How old are the 2 of you?
I'm 20, she was probably 18-19. I'm a bad guesser of ages!

It's a rush. I have AA too but I'm getting over it. And...it sounds strange saying it, but rejection breeds confidence too (not as much as success, of course).
[–]AnAmericanComposer[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I can picture that. It says you failed that one time, but you didn't die, right?

Great job mate, it is indeed ridiculously nerve wracking to approach at the start, and that butterfly-roller-coaster feeling never really goes away it just turns into something you enjoy like a joggers high.
Looking forward to the next occurrence, and the next, and the next...

A couple observations:
That she calmly and coolly used the boyfriend line is indicative of the fact that she is used to getting propositioned (which should be duh for an 8). The takeaway here is that you aren't really putting her in an uncomfortable position because she's been here thousands of times. I believe a lot of approach anxiety is centered around the notion that we are creating an uncomfortable situation. this clearly isn't true. Even if it were, it's not really about us.
Secondly, the boyfriend line is a shit test even when it is true (and it's almost always true for an 8). It's fine to fail this test but it's more fun to pass it; for the both of you. Lots of good answers to this one that will only generate more charm and wit on your behalf. The fact is an 8 has tons of options and hypergamy suggests that she will explore for upgrades. Our strategy is to present as the upgrade.

What do I say? "I don't see a ring"? "What's he got that I ain't"? "I will now throw a bag over your head and take you as my wife"?
I don't know how to come off like I'm disrespecting her relationship, real or fake.
[–]pingpongsam 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm partial to, "Hah, yeah, me too!"
Then there's this (where I'd prefer, the "so does my girlfriend" line)
Bookmarked the link to read later, thanks! And that response made me laugh xD Nice, subtle irony goes a long way. Thanks!

You don't.
I'm an older guy (40's) who didn't date for a long time from being in an ltr and being pretty depressed when I got out of it. When I tried to get back into the dating scene I was really surprised how many girls had boyfriends.
Then I stared working on myself. I dress a lot better now, lost weight, I've been lifting...
Suddenly, magically...every girl is back to being single again. Like magic!
'I've got a boyfriend' is a polite, non-confrontational way of telling you that she isn't interested in you. She isn't really lying to you intentionally. Just that in that moment of not being interested in you whatever guy she went on one date with 2 weeks ago, orbiter she mercyfucked one time, guy that got her number last week and never texted her back, some ONS from tinder...that guy transforms in her mind into a 'boyfriend'.
If you start trying to argue with her she isn't going to smile and say 'aww you're right, I don't really have a boyfriend' She's going to back into a corner and start believing even harder in this 'relationship'. Add in the fact that a guy she doesn't want is hitting on her and won't back off and yeah, you're asking for trouble.
This isn't demonstrating abundance mentality it's refusing to accept reality. some girls will be into you others won't. If you had to badger her and argue your way into just getting that number you're just asking for flake-outs and the like.
In my younger days I had a few ,not a lot but a few, cases where I asked a girl out, she said no and I just acted like it was no big deal, which it wasn't, and just treated her like any acquaintance, bullshitting with her now and then when she was around but not like trying to get her attention and stuff and the girl would come up to me later and give me her number without me even asking again. I didn't do it intentionally but really not giving a fuck and acting all wounded about it or asking over and over my stock rose in the girl's eyes.
Just keep approaching and use women's responses as an indicator of your current SMV. Kind of like looking at the bathroom scale. If you're heavier than you want to be diet. If you're coming off to women you don't know as low SMV the problem is in your level of fitness, clothing, grooming, or general attitude. If chicks are telling you they have a boyfriend constantly they're really telling you you need to work on one or more of these things.
There was a TIFU I read about a kid that faked not knowing what a potato was to his SO+her family. They called him out, and he eventually had to keep solidifying his stance as not to appear disingenuous. I totally get you, and I wouldn't just start trying to muscle my way into a relationship.
I find the RP groups to be so inclusive with their lingo, and I tend to not know phrases and hyphenizations. What is LTR?

Long Term Relationship.
And redpill isn't like some PUA forum that promises to tell you exactly what to text to get into her panties. you cannot 'get' redpill until you read all the sidebar material and commit to do making actual changes in your life based on the information there.
I'll give you the short version: Stop putting women at the center of your life. Recognize that SMV is a real thing and how it impacts women's sexual behavior. Start making actual changes in your life and what you do to maximize your SMV and make that a lifetime mission. Possibly the most important thing, start lifting right away. Google 5x5 stronglifts if you're a novice.
As a guy that's been both high and low SMV at various times in my life I can tell you this, those pick up gurus that think they know so much about how to talk to women are all young, good looking, dress well, and are confident.
90% of what they tell other people to do and say is utter crap and only works because their SMV is high. This place gets it right. Yeah, think about game, learn from other people about it, but constantly focus on raising your SMV while you do it.

Why not have some integrity and pursue a girl who doesn't have a boyfriend
Jeez, passive-aggressive much. Have a bit of chill, brutha!
[–]pingpongsam 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Because you are unnecessarily limiting your options by a drastic number. The reality is pretty much any desirable girl has a "boyfriend" for different values of boyfriend.
Also, because this is usually shit test #1 and is a softball you want to knock out of the park.
[–]powerwinch 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'd rather conserve my integrity and not be the third party in a relationship, but sexual strategy is amoral amirite
Any girl who's willing to cheat on her partner is not worth my time.

You should only consider the boyfriend line a shit test if it's used after interest has been reciprocated. For instance, if you kino a woman and she is receptive AND flirts with you, but then uses the "I have a boyfriend" line, then yes, it is a shit test.
If you get shut down at the first indication, then she may not actually have a boyfriend, but is clearly indicating that she is not interested and does not want further advances.

I don't get the fear guys have of rejection. I'm not bragging when I state that I let go of that fear when I was about sixteen. You plate spinning guys should be more afraid when the girl actually starts to like you.
Co-dependents and serial monogamists might not understand this and dub me insane. But it's a valid fear, being commitment-phobic. For me it's difficult to calm down when girls start to stalk me. Eyeing me in that creepy way, like their imagining our honeymoon already. Horrible thoughts.
But for the approach anxious it's a liberating thought. Why fear the one outcome where you lose absolutely nothing? When a girl falls deeply in love with you, you always lose. Your plate either breaks or becomes your girlfriend. At that point the commitment means a loss of your time. There's nothing great about that. Maybe if your the romantic type it's worth the sacrifice.
What I'm trying to say is comforting, don't worry if you get turned down. You got away scott free, worry when you gotta deal with a lovesick girl. Rejection only affects the insecure ones. Good progress man, it will work itself out.
I can see you. I feel like men can't have this kind of fear in society anymore. Women pay far less for a relationship than a man does. When a woman is afraid of this next step, it's just follow your heart, honey. I bet he's an asshole. Men get: you're just afraid of commitment!
I understand commitment problems entirely. I told my GF of 2 years (moved in together when we were 18... boy I made mistakes). Told her I didn't want to get married because I didn't feel secure, she took it personal. I broke it off (after a lot of reading here) and, what do you know, she ended up having mental health problems, gaining lots of weight and being diagnosed with diabetes. Dodged a bullet. Thanks for your thoughts!

It's when a woman starts expected things from you that you should feel most anxious. This is also why women cower away from beta's by the way, they can't handle expectations. Men are expected to take on the burden of a girlfriend, handle their responsibility.
But what if you don't want this. What if you were just fine spinning her (and other plates) while sharing your life with your friends, enjoying your passions. What if you want to keep this life you've build. Not lose it to some possible slut that expects you to work like a slave for her materialistic addiction and baby dreams. Only to be cheated on and discarded when your usefulness has run out. Having lost everything you ever were.
That's what commitment often turns out to be. It slowly kills the man as a woman leaches on him. There's always a sacrifice to make for those with responsibility. When a girl rejects you she's letting you off with zero-responsibility. This is a great thing.
Friend-zoned guys, divorce raped men, cucks- all of them continue to bear the burden of responsibility while getting nothing in return. That should be your fear.
