Since learning about female hypergamy, have you started to resent other dudes? I'm not yet comfortable with the whole idea of hypergamy (still internalizing it) but I can't direct those feelings towards the girls, because they're just following their biological instincts. I read a comment here this week where it said resenting women for hypergamy is like resenting guys for being naturally attracted to hot women. Just like we can't control it, neither can they. We like what we like and there's nothing we can do about it. Sounds reasonable to me.
So I direct those feelings towards the guys. Maybe it's jealousy, I don't know exactly what I'm feeling. But knowing that a woman is always, on whatever level of consciousness, on the lookout for a higher status male, has turned every guy into a competitor for me, whether I like it or not. And I know that whatever form of relationship I get into (non-monogamous), I'll always be stacked up against other guys in her mind, constantly being judged and evaluated, at all times having the possibility of being dropped at a moment's notice.
In some ways it really motivates me to better myself, which I've been doing a lot of since coming here, in order to put yourself above more and more men. But in other ways, I realize how pointless the effort is. No matter how much you work on yourself and how much you improve every aspect of your life, there will always be many, many men who are better than you in some combination of all areas of life, e.g. dominance, character, fitness, appearance, business, charisma. It's an exhausting and impossible effort to try to be a guy who can cultivate long-lasting, fulfilling relationships (even if non-exclusive).
If I see a guy who has an incredibly dominant and suave demeanor, I imagine any girl I'd end up dating following her hypergamous instincts and leaving me for him or, in the best case, sharing herself with both of us. Not a nice feeling. I see a guy in the gym with a killer body, same thing. Guy who speaks 5 languages and travels around the world, same thing. And how about those guys who seem to have achieved mastery of so many areas of life and seem to always be 'on' - they just make me wanna give up and date girls they wouldn't have interest in! Now clearly, that's not a good belief system for me to be working with. And let's not forget the hot bartender, bouncer, or waiter earning minimum wage...a shocking reality check that a guy like that who hasn't put in 10% of the effort I have into myself will be the same guy girls will leave me for!
Have you guys experienced this? How do I get over it?
Other guys have always been competition, but since learning about hypergamy it feels even more so.
I try to remind myself of the abundance mindset and that other guys don't matter, because there are so many girls and they're all giving up sex so easily to alpha guys, so as long as you're one of them you're getting a lot of sex and so are the other top men. But if each of those girls ends up eventually trading up, then it seems like I'm still living in a scarcity reality. In other words, it doesn't matter if there are plenty of fish in the sea because all of them are only attainable until the next biggest shark comes along and gets them from you, with enthusiastic cooperation from the fish.
Is the only option for guys like us to go through life in a series of non-exclusive relationships lasting days or weeks, sometimes months, until she inevitably moves on? That doesn't seem so fulfilling. Perhaps not a reward worth trying to obtain, given the effort it'll take to build myself up into a quality man and develop quality game. Am I looking at this all wrong? I feel like I am.
I think there's 2 kinds of guys who embrace TRP. Guys who use it as an excuse to give up and see everything as negative (the dark and lazy side of MGTOW), and guys who use this knowledge as a cheat code to sex and relationships and transform the quality of their life into something fantastic.
So within the context of the bleak realizations I've described in this post, how do I start making hypergamy and TRP work for me?
