14-year-old Daisy Coleman reported that an older athlete had sex with her while another older male videotaped, after she was given an alcoholic drink at a party that left her barely able to stand. Her friend, a 13-year-old, was also made to have non-consensual sex.

And . . . she was "left, with clear marks of rape, on the front lawn of her home in freezing weather."

How was this girl a slut exactly? Was it because she went to a party? Did that make her a slut?

Or are you assuming she went to the party with hope and expectation of being drugged before being raped?

Pumping and dumping is when a person goes out with a girl, probably just to have sex with her, then dumps her shortly thereafter, probably because the sex is lackluster.

Your editorializing headline seems to indicate facts not in the story.

Or it's just a pile of misguided bullshit.

I agree. While the story seems to leave out a lot of details (and leave a lot to the imagination), it doesn't seem like the sex was consensual in this case, especially with the girl being "left, with clear marks of rape, on the front lawn of her home in freezing weather."

It's stuff like this that people use to mischaracterize the true nature of this subreddit. Sure, there are cases where women do reckless things and put themselves in harm's way. And there are many other situations were the girl is completey blindsided and out of her depth. She goes to a party thinking she might maybe kiss a cute boy, then she gets peer pressured into drinking what she thinks is a beer, then wakes up sore on her parents' lawn.

So, you're saying it is inherently male to drug someone and rape them? Are you from one of those radfem blogs?

There is "trying to get laid," and then there is drugging someone and raping them. Jock athletes do this to younger jock athletes, BTW. That's right, I've read recently that part of hazing includes involuntary homosexual acts done to younger guys by older guys. Maybe you'd feel differently if it happened to you? Were those younger guys asking for that treatment? Even if they heard rumors, how would they know if it wasn't just all bullshit to scare them until it actually happened? Would they then be accused of "asking for it?" Nobody would ever accuse a man who was raped of asking for it. They would take a completely different abusive tack, but they wouldn't accuse him of asking for it (unless of course he was raped by a woman). They might say he was weak, or he should have fought back. The world of drugs and sexual predators seems pretty unreal until you actually enter it.

"Boys will be boys" is a folk saying that is used to explain away rape as an inherently boyish behavior that all boys engage in. Now, all boys do no have rapacious tendencies, and most families don't raise their boys to rape, so this is simply false.

There is a vast gulf in the maturity and understanding between a 13 and 14 year old and a 17 year old. Sure, it's only 3-4 years, but the 17 year olds are practically adults, while the 13-14 year olds are just coming out of childhood.

Now, obviously they should not have been allowed to go. And yes, no supervision, but I remember high school, so I know EXACTLY how easily 13-14 year old girls were duped and conned into these situations. They were targeted by the older boys precisely because they were easy marks. Girls that age automatically think every boy older than them is cool. There is nothing remotely honorable in getting a girl that age drunk. They are fish in a barrel.

Here would be the correct definition of a slut: went to the party, stayed sober, to BETER ENJOY group sex with the athletes. Then brags about it on Facebook.

Borderline slutty would be if the girls had a history of alcohol abuse that they use as a cover for sexual experimentation. That's more complex.

I have to interpret the facts as they are presented.

White-knighting is a term better used to describe defending the worst excesses of a feminist writing about her lack-of-privilege hang-ups then a case where a girl gets drugged, raped and left on her parents' lawn.

You know, boys get locked up every day for having consensual sex with their girlfriends, with Romeo and Juliet exceptions only getting applied in the case of rich, connected white kids. And that's bad enough.

But this sounds like a straight-up case of rape, NOT seduction, NOT PUA tactics, not applied TRP theory.

Boys mostly use drugs and alcohol to get laid because they HAVE NO GAME at all, nor are they MEN, and because sex is so demonized that everyone must get uninhibited chemically to have it. But that don't make it right.

You think a 13-14 year old girl fully understands "that situation?" I know some will claim that they do, but most of that subset only THINK that they do. 99.99% DON'T. If they were that smart, they wouldn't be whiling away their time in the school system, they'd be running the fucking world.

Let's look at the facts:

  • left on parents lawn
  • no track record of slutty / druggy / alchy behavior listed
  • girls were drugged
  • sex was described as non-consensual
  • prosecutor who dropped charges connected to families of boys

Even without the age factor, this whole thing reeks to high heaven.

That they were 13 and 14 only makes it that much more inexcusable.

Also, why should teenaged athletes be allowed to drug people until they are unconscious and then rape them?

Usually when people on TRP talk about this issue, it's a situation where an adult women drunkenly consents to sex, and then has buyer's remorse a week later, and claims retroactively rape to defend her reputation. Defending that would be white-knighting. This is not that set of facts.

Young, dumb, slutty girls without a father figure in their life get taken advantage of by older high school seniors, then were left out in the snow to avoid being caught. Yeah, it's true, the girls hold some responsibility here. I'm sure they wanted to have sex (seriously, not sarcasm...they knew what they were doing), BUT they didn't want to drink to oblivion and be left out in the snow afterward. The senior guys deserve a significant amount of blame for their actions.

Seriously, there's 'crying rape' (which is all too common) and there is, dare I say, 'legitimate rape'. On a spectrum, this falls toward the latter. The guys should have used better judgement to 1. not hook up with these young girls and 2. not have treated them as disposable once they did. Read the latter part of this. 'Attacked and taken of their dignity' combined with their young age.

Maybe they wanted to have sex. We don't know. We're not them. It seems most likely that girls that age are just beginning to explore the idea. I'd wager that they were hoping to kiss, or maybe fool around, but not get drugged, raped, and left on a lawn somewhere.

Where I grew up, it was perfectly normal for girls this age to mix with guys that were older. Lots of 16-17 year old guys had girlfriends who were 14 or 15. 13 was frowned upon because they were still in junior high school. But in those cases, it was consensual sex. Screwing a drugged, drunk, passed-out girl is not sex, it's rape.

The irony is, those jocks could have had consensual, (albeit illegal sex [probably statutory rape in that jurisdiction]) if they were willing to date those girls, or at least wait a few months. But nope, they go straight to the roofies.

Because then everyone who drinks gets a get out of jail free card for rape. Rape is NEVER acceptable. How can one possibly justify it? You can justify killing a person in self-defense or defense of another person as a necessity, but you can't possibly claim you were raping someone to prevent some greater evil.

I don't defend anyones actions in this situation.

However it's not surprising after the last circus show where some teenagers lives were ruined for doing the same thing that these towns have absolutely no fucking interest in dragging their name through the dirt over what a bunch of teenagers have been doing to each other for hundreds of years, with no real way of discouraging or enforcing the law in a realistic fashion against teenagers without basically ruining lives who are too young to really grasp what they're doing. Everyone is a loser in these situations, and justice isn't served by wonton judicial revenge against children on either side of these situations.

The telling issue in this situation is the father, who would be the protector and a second guiding hand, died when they were very young. The mother was forced to deal with a stressful and rough situation where she was challenged raising two children alone.

It seems u guys have this stigma of "theyre only 13/14 so they can't possibly be sluts" I grew up with a sister 3 years younger than me and got to witness first hand how a 13 y.o. can be a slut. I can recall my sister and her friends bragging about giving blowjobs and even ridiculing some guys on their small penises ever since she was in the 7th grade. Of course this did upset me, but it taught me that girls are people too and just like me at age 13, they were horny bastards.
