For all the good the redpill helped me achieve in my life sometimes it makes me feel like shit.

This week was the first time I played a video games in 2 years (about 5 hours a day) x5 days. I had a blast playing with random baddies, talking shit, getting called a fag, winning a match using teamwork, etc.

Right now, I have feelings of guilt because I could have used that time to read up on programming, on finance, I could have met some tinder/OKC sloots, etc.

Honestly, I don't even know why I want to do those things (to better myself). To get more money? To up my SMV? To attract a NAWALT unicorn? Am I having fun "bettering" myself? TO bed an HB10? Is an HB10 better than an HB9?

This is a core issue for lots of people. What you need to understand is your focus on self improvement should not eliminate enjoyment. Ideally you need to find a hobby which fills both needs for me that rock climbing.

I get exercise, (temporary) fulfillment for defeating new climbing problems, (last fulfillment) Increased confidence and I take a small amount of pride in my accomplishments. Plus HB's love rolled up sleeves with toned forearms.

The problem with Video games in general is unless you at an elite level you will not gain any personal improvements from this entertainment. At the elite level like any sport or even talent you will attract HBs but that's largely because women want winners.

Where as exercises which also provide entertain value for you fills both needs.

You need to look at physical forms of entertainment or social ones.

Explore why you enjoy something and after discovering the why adapt your work out, social practice or other skills to fill this need.

Turning work into play is the key.

I think this is a common thing. First you feel guilt for all the time you wasted and want to make up for it, and you become almost obsessed with self improvement and work. You do that for a while until the guilt is assuaged and "let go" a bit. You notice that the world didn't fall apart and that you probably feel reinvigorated to pursue your interests again. Eventually you integrate work and play in a balanced manner.

This is more or less what it comes to. Now when I skip a day in the gym I feel incredible guilt over it, that comes from a decade of routine and it creates motivation that you know you're going to get your ass into the gym the next day.

The more 'ok' you get with doing nothing, the more you will let yourself slip.

Sounds good to me. You wanted to have fun, you had fun.

TRP over-emphasizes getting laid because it's full of autistic near-virgins who really want to get laid. There are a lot of other things you can do with your life.

Don't let other people dictate your emotions and make you feel like shit, pussy!

Programming? Good. Finance? Good.

Fucking more sluts? Where is the improvement? Unless you are in a phase, in which you struggle with women (thus more interaction is a learning experience) there's nothing that helps you. It's just a fun past-time just like playing a video game.

[–]pavista0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

TRP encourages men to improve their life to increasing their enjoyment. There seems to be great conflict about what 'improved' actually is. If you can manage a good job, being fit but also having fun and enjoying yourself that is perfectly ok.

I use toggl to track my time. It's 4:15 in the afternoon and I have 5 hours put into learning Japanese, as I am taking an entrance test to a translator course next month.

I have tried so many ways to be efficient and I have found that tracking your time and timeboxing works, because it makes it feel like a video game. It will also make you accountable when you physically see where the time goes.

Timeboxing link surprisingly helpful, thanks.

How I well damn please, with the full knowledge of the consequences of my every action. A man should own his time, and not the other way around. And it doesn't matter what he does.

If I sit down with Shakespeare's first folio (I own a facsimile of the 1623 print) I do it with a tacit acceptance that it won't land a HB10 in my bed. But what I do with my time is my business and not the business of others, I have only so much time left on this planet and I'm not going to waste it to cater to other people's desires.

I lift, study for entrance test to law school, fuck my ltr, and enjoy my privileged life.

I play/write music and play hockey. My band is recording our first album in my basement this week.

Men, and manhood itself, now, more than ever, truly face a diaspora in the face of contemporary feminism and their taunts of "male privilege". I contend, that if you find yourself beset on all sides by forces hostile to the expression of your very existence, the best place to turn is toward yourself, as often as possible. I try to engage in new learning opportunities constantly, whether this be a workshop on lucid dreaming, a seminar on entrepreneur-ship, or a conversation with a mentor. No man should claim he has no opportunity to seek the betterment of himself on a consistent and frequent basis. To wit, many prestigious universities now upload entire semesters worth of classes onto youtube. For the price of an internet connection, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of courses are at your beckon. Here is the link to MIT's open courseware. I myself have lately been burning through the Quantum Physics lectures.

I spend 8 hours at work, then I get home and usually go to sleep for 5 hours. I wake up at 2pm and watch a pirated movie while shitposting on anime imageboards. After eating some healthy food, followed by unhealthy food I fap for about 1 hour and contemplate my failures in life.

By this time it's about 9pm so I sleep for 2 hours, wake up tired and go to work.
