Working out is fun man. If you don't have that mentality it's gonna be a tough commitment. It's already a long road. It's a life commitment. It sounds depressing but if you enjoy it and the effects of it on you, you'll make it work and make it happen. Be outcome independent of your results from training.

Our bodies are effected permanently by certain things. If you smoke your brain will reconfigure itself so that you will crave the smoking (nicotine) for the rest of your life. You can reduce those cravings to a minimum, but ex-smokers often say 20 or 30 years after quitting smoking that the urge still exists and they will often still dream of smoking.

Excess weight is similiar.

Your body develops a kind of setpoint where your life maximum for weight becomes where it wants to return to. This means that like the smoker if you want to "quit the fat" you will need to be committed to discipline for the rest of your life.

Every time you cycle your weight up and down your self control over your life falters and your confidence weakens.

So before you can really win this battle you need to see honestly what it is.

Start a before and after thread to keep track of your progress. At 300lbs you will be able to make rapid weight loss in the beginning.

You have my support and I'm sure others on here will kick your arse too if you stop making progress.

It's the fat cells. Once you gain the fat and the cells are made you can shrink the cells down and lose the weight but it's way easier to regain since they are still there, hence why rebound weight is so common. I did this during a few recent injuries, went all the way up to 275 almost 280 I think. I held that weight for about 14 months stable while healing up. Funny thing is that was my weight out of highschool before I lost all the fat the first time. Took me 2 years to get to a good looking 190lbs the first time. It happens, lose it again and maintain no matter what. There is no excuse, just because I couldn't walk for a few months doesn't mean I could not have at least watched my food intake and stepped on the scale at least once a week. I gave up though to a depression while I was blue. Now I am an aware red pill I will take action once I get the warning I'm gaining. Once you go up more than 5lbs and it's not from lifting then you need to take that as a warning and nip that shit in the bud.

If you don't mind saying, how much weight did you lose, how long did it take, and how fast did you regain it?

In my experience people generally lose weight faster than they regain it, which is nice. A person can crack down and lose 2-4 pounds a week fairly easily if they are heavy, and may only regain 1 a week if they are lax.
