She got debt free, mostly thanks to my income. She literally wrote the check to pay off her last debt while I read the five page letter telling me everything she had hated about me from the moment we met. 8 years, 3 kids, but the second our savings account matched her student loan balance, I got one week to pack my shit and get out. As a bonus, it was also my birthday.

  • Sorry to pry but I really don't understand this. How is it that you can pay off the majority of her debt, then she decides she doesn't want to be married anymore and tear a family apart, you even had written proof it was her who wanted to end it with her 5 page letter and then after all that she gets to kick you out of the house I can only assume you paid for? How does that work?

    • Life is funny. During a divorce, you kind of lose your understanding of justice. I spent a bunch of money asking what you asked, and I still don't know. The internet has taught me at least it isn't just me. Beyond that, I'm about as clueless as you.

    • Yep. I went to nursing school (I'm a dude) and the amount of ended relationships and divorces following graduation was sad. Many of these women had dude working overtime to cover the cost of lost wages and tuition only to get a "fuck you I got my own money" shortly after graduation. I became apparent afterwards that this was probably a long term plan for several of them which is pretty fucking harsh.
