I think the idea of hard work gets a bad rep because when we hear it, it usually comes from a supervisor or manager trying to get us to work as hard as possible, but let's look at it from a different standpoint.
You can actually enjoy hard work. Wanna know why people hate hard work? Because they expect something out of their hard work and get disappointed when they don't get the results they want. You work out, you want to look like Spartan warrior from the movie 300. You work hard at your job, you higher compensation or a promotion. You cold approach, you want to get laid or find a girlfriend. Hard work is not about taking, it's about adding value and self-improving. You don't have to kill yourself with hard work, you can put in some time and call it a day with the satisfaction that you contributed your time towards something meaningful to you.
Something else people want to do is work hard to master something quickly. If you are studying a language, you want to learn that language as quickly as possible if you learn a large amount of words or phrases a day. Instead, get good at one thing before you move on. It may take longer, but not like you think. You may expect to learn about 1,800 words a year, but you may only learn 1,000 words because you got stuck at a point. What if those 1,000 words were enough to communicate fairly easy (understanding and being understood in your target language)?
Hard work should be aimed towards something you REALLY want, not something that would be nice to learn. It might be nice to learn how to play the guitar, but you may not want to REALLY put in the work to play like Jimi Hendrix.
Why am I saying all this? Because getting women takes hard work. You need to learn how to take rejection and have the confidence to approach, interact, and try to sleep with the women you want. In my opinion, I think this is something every man should work hard towards. Do you know that if you approached 3 women a day, that's over 1,000 women a year? Let's say you only get 10 of these women (1%). This means you've been rejected about 990 times in that year. What if each year you only got a 0.5% success rate improvement. Do you know that after 10 years you would have slept with about 325 women? Do you know in 20 years you would have slept with 1,150 women at this same rate? These projections are very minimal. You may have better success. What if you only had a 2% success rate and had a 1% increase in success each year?
This principle can be used in any area of your life. When you work hard to self-improve and add value to the world, you will actually enjoy working hard. Forget about the goal and trying to master whatever it is you're doing. Enjoy the process. Just make sure you select the place you REALLY want to work hard in, not work hard because it seems like it would be nice to do.
