Wife trying to make their relationship "open," gets caught screwing another dude. Total coincidence. Claims it only happened once. And he buys it all uncritically. Then asks the Internet to advise him. Amazing. Amazing.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

And the internet responds with "anger will fade over time. Try couselling" In other words, pay some feminist chick to tell you it was your fault your wife was a whore.

It's horrible that, despite her actions, he can't divorce without losing all his shit. No fault divorce is the greatest thing to ever come to cheating wives.

It only happened once and as I understand it was third-base action.

He can't even admit to reddit that his wife blew another man.

[–]Hoodwink 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a concept in psychology and ethics where the more distance (physical or mental) you put yourself between the action and it's effects; the more you can stomach it (killing people with a knife or bare-hands is harder on the psyche than a bombing Dresden from 5000 ft). This is what's happening.

I never seem to understand why these men put so much investment into relationships and pressure on themselves to keep it. I understand falling head over heels in love with a woman as a beta male but committing everything like nothing can go wrong? That's just senseless. Don't these men have any risk-assessment traits?

This two halves of a whole style of thinking is poisonous. You're not with your soul mate, you're with someone whose company you enjoy. Learn the difference.

Don't invest what you're not willing or capable of losing.

That thread doesn't have advice, it's just mindless chatter. That man invested himself, his life and his money into this one thing, this one person, who he has no semblance of control over and the investment fell through surprisingly. What exactly do you say to someone on a half-sunken ship when they're the captain?

Captain goes down with the ship. Rest in peace lostnhurt.

a lot of times, no. a lot of these types are privileged, upper middle class or even upper class kinds of dudes that have never really experienced adversity in their lives and expect things to just 'be good'.

ask yourself who is more likely the blue pill beta:

  1. upper middle class college educated guy who majored in lib arts or tech/science, gets a good job, parents are still together, comes from a nice area, met his 'one' in school or at work or through friends. probably conservative, thinks if you just work hard things will always work out

  2. working class guy from a broken family who grew up in a tough neighborhood and now does something physical or service-industry (bartender, waiter, etc.) for a living, has seen bad things happen to good people, is under no illusions whatsoever about the world and how it works

race/ethnic background may have a little to do with it but i don't think it's the dominant factor.

this is obviously taking the extremes to illustrate a point but i believe that's the polarity

depends on what part of the country you're in.

[–]iamme23 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh absolutely.

As someone coming from category 2 it amazed me discovering how many concepts are strange, ignorant and wrong to anyone whose a had a too comfortable of a life when in practice they are very real, necessary or beneficiary. I'm a firm believe that true character and life skills are built through experience and adversity. There's no way to truly side step this process. You can read all you want but at the end of the day without seeing it for yourself what you read will just remain words and nothing more.

You need to feel pain in order to know what comfort and contentment feels like. You need to struggle to understand the value of reward. You have to see the other side of people in order to know whose the good man in the group. You need to be tested in order to feel confident and secure.

A lot of things are not possible without those experiences in life. A lot of concepts just can't be explained to such people.

I never seem to understand why these men put so much investment into relationships and pressure on themselves to keep it.

In this case, it's a cheating wife of seven years. Divorce is expensive to men, no matter how much of a whore the ex was. She'd be laughing all the way to the bank and then to his house to fuck her new b/f (and have the ex pay the bills).

Don't these men have any risk-assessment traits?

Society always pressures men to marry (and quicklly before the honeymoon phase ends and her Wall comes). It also pressures men to be as bluepill as possible because "that's what women want."

Thankfully, most of us here learned these lessons before it was too late. What we're seeing on these married bluepill advice subs are the result of doing what you're "supposed" to do in life.

It's just so blood boiling!

[–]MartialWay 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She will never see this person again and wants to go to a counselor. She thinks this can make us stronger.

Think of how much stronger your relationship will be when she's getting gang banged on the regular.

[–]Talkshitgethit 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Another reason not to marry. If this was just my gf blowing another dude, she'd be dropped faster than you know. But since he's married, he divorces her, she gets half his shit.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"She will never see this person again and wants to go to a counselor. She thinks this can make us stronger. Can it?"

Translation:

"Honey, I think putting another man's cock in my mouth will make us both stronger! Don't you?" /doesnotcompute

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is a valid passive-aggressive tactic to send a message to your husband... a man that would be on the streets after the end of a nofault divorce in the western world.

[–]youarebinary 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

First mistake not dumping her like trash.

Second mistake is asking for advice on that relationship subreddit. The grid mind is strong there. 99% of Reddit I wouldn't be asking for advice unless I was looking for cringe comedy.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

/r/relationships gets a lot of shit thrown at it here, and it's probably well deserved. But the one time I used it, a little after I had joined Reddit, I received sound advice: "Stay away from this crazy bitch, and never look back." (paraphrase, of course)

[–]youarebinary 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That is good advice.

Sometimes even when you hunt around in sewers you'll find the odd gem.

Shit isn't thrown at the relationships subreddit - people at redpill just bring awareness of the packed to the hilt shit that is brimming to the surface there.

Redpill has a much higher rate of beneficial advice. It's not perfect but where I find the relationship subreddit to be 90% bullshit and 10% good advice Redill is 90% good advice and 10% bullshit.

Better way to phrase it, yeah.

Are you sure you're not projecting? Your post reeks of insecurity.

[–]Furthur 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

he's trying too hard. just let it be

[–]gprime312 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

His post reads like a guy who's secure with his wife and doesn't like people making blanket statements on an institution that we've had since we were banging rocks together.

Fear is healthy. Only a fool feels no fear in the face of danger.

[–]banalredditing 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Why do seeing other people fuck up advice make me feel better at all?

I notice lately a lot of people are posting high school crap on here (look at these people, aren't we better than them? they are soooo stupid) and I'm not a fan.

Cmon, TRP is fine, it sells itself, you don't have to bludgeon people with every stupid example reddit props up. We'd be here all day, and I for one don't like the idea of a movement based on slamming other peoples bad decisions

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think it's more about learning from other people's mistakes than bashing people. It's easier to understand the redpill when you have blue pill examples.

[–]banalredditing -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Reading here, I see a huge about of blue, and almost no red.

So I'm not sure if your assumption is accurate, respectfully

[–]Kronouranos 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree, there is too many blue pill examples. I think most of us know what a blue pill would do, as a lot of us were one at one point. We don't really need to be reminded what not to do.

That being said, there isn't a lot of red pill examples out there compared to the never-ending blue pill examples. But yeah I agree we need more red pill links.

[–]banalredditing -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought that was the point. figure worldwide audience and one subreddit would make the very minor examples more visible.

Instead, get the impression many like to shit on guys acting like wuses, and posting about a guy getting a blowjob on stage as if thats the pinnacle of mandom

[–]Jimbodini 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I like laughing at people's misfortune.

[–]banalredditing 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I wish that was what it was... Failblog is laughing at misfortune, and no one is against that. This was saying:

look at how stupid those people are, we aren't them. We are great, lets pat each other on the back and laugh at people who don't think how we think

And grown men out of high school have no reason to act like that, it shows a horrible lack of character IMHO.

[–]Jimbodini 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I definitely lack character when I am on the internet

[–]banalredditing 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lol, guess you're in good company then.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Woah

I clicked the link, and looked at the comment without realizing that it sent me to the original link and not TRP comments.

I was like "Dafuq?"
