So I kind of wanted to take a wack at this question. This opinion may be somewhat edgy so if the mods feel that this isn't reflective of TRP then so be it. but this is my experience

I was told from PUA community that looks don't matter at all. I believed this. for a while

About 3 years ago I was depressed, and almost suicidal. I also have a history of drug use, and a lot of mental health issues. Luckily, I have gotten help and made steps in the right direction. I looked at some old photos and videos of me. On an old iphone 3 under my bed before I move out tomorrow. I was surprised. These days I look wayyyy better. I dont have those bags under my eyes anymore. My posture is much better. These days my chest sticks out. Before I had a head forward butt out posture. I looked up a video on my phone of me and my voice is not deeper in actual pitch. but I talk much slower and clearer. I articulate words better. My voice sounds much deeper and grounded. I give more eye contact and fidget less. I found an old video of me giving a speech at a family gathering with all my cousins etc. It was my dads birthday so I was saying how much I appreciated him. I was most shocked when I saw this. I was a completely different person. This was especially apparent during my public speech. I stuttered a lot

A little bit of kyphosis, and forward head. I also looked unhappy. the smile in the picture was fake. I also had digestive issues at that stage in life. If you like your whey protein go for it. But for me, milk products fucked my stomach up. Alot of this is discussed by Elliott Hulse on youtube (look him up if you have time), but I think my poor posture was linked to a weak core. A weak core due to heavy indigestion due to some processed foods but mainly milk and fried foods

I compared that to a picture now. I started hitting the gym. sadly, my diet isn't on point. So my gains aren't significant. I eat clean but I just started counting calories because I wasn't eating enough. That being said, I look like a completely different person. So without even touching a weight I changed my entire character and persona

I visited an old college professor the other day. "I can't believe its you. you look so much different". Girls that showed no interest in me before, now strike up conversations with me

So do looks matter? Truth is, I think that the good looking tall white male in your class is sadly going to have some level of advantage over you. But I think in a weird way, giving out a different vibe and body language has changed my entire presence when I enter the room. And instead of focusing on the tiniest fraction of sexual market value that you can't control, focus on the part you can. your vibe. People say that muscles make you more attractive. I don't think so. I think muscles change your vibe. which in turn changes your attractiveness overall. My friend hit the gym and with his sweatshirt on he doesn't look different at all. But his vibe is completely different. Gets more girls even in winter when he is bundled up. And I can't put my fnger on it. but his vibe is much more masculine. He has a different mentality entirely as well

I imagine lifting only adds to this effect that I have observed. I hope to find this out soon with my increase in calories. but in summation

tl:dr; changing your persona and presence is very effective at making you more attractive. I don't consider myself very attractive facially at all. But smiling, working on being happier, more positive, a better conversationalist, dressing better (my entire wardrobe is less than $300. I'm dead broke atm), better posture (look into essential eight. Best mobility routine I have found), eating better (my skin is better) and getting sleep (well rested body is a well rested mind). If you are depressed, get help (psychotherapy and hypnotherapy worked for me). And lastly, I imagine lifting is the number one thing I can do now to change my vibe Ask girls what they want out of their man. Most generally say will go on to describe masculine traits. If looks are on there, it is towards the end of their list. I went from a 2/10 to a 7 maybe eight. At least this is what the attention from women and even other men indicates. A guy in my friend group is 'ugly' and I remember girls used to laugh at him. Its been a few years and my sister told me that two of the 9's in her friend group got in a threeway with him last weekend
