INTRO

I'm in my late 20s and I had a group of friends I've been hitting with pretty regularly since we were 7. We're 4, 3 guys and a girl, where a guy and a girl have been together for 7-8 years, we all chose different career paths, different cities to study and therefore we end up meeting every few months. We always do dinners for their birthdays, I invited them to my graduation and so they did.

BODY

I always brought my LTRs in the group, first my 1.5y then a 3.5y. When I broke with the first one, the girl in the group was pretty angry at her for some bullshit, so she was easily cut out of the group, and then I started bringing the new one from time to time.

Everything was fine, but then I decided to move abroad with my former LTR, we broke up and she decided to go back while I decided my country was not for me.

After breaking up I found TRP, worked on improving myself, and grown a lot of confidence, with girls and with people in general. My friends who meet me every once in a while noticed my changes and honestly I understand them: you've known a loser for 20 years.

Fast forward to these days, it's the girl's birthday, so I give her a call, tell her we should catch up since it's been a while and usual stuff. She's quite nervous at the phone, but I've never been the type of guy that calls, so I don't give much importance to it.

If not that her facebook profile picture changes: it's her, with my group of friend, a couple of hers and my ex. At her birthday. The night I called her.

Then I realise I called her during that dinner, with my ex in front of her, with my other two friends there, saying she'll organise something once she sees them and I can only laugh. I laugh at the bullshits she told me, I laugh at how double face a girl I've known so long can be, I laugh at how friendship is fleeting.

CONCLUSION

In the end, we live alone, we die alone, everyone else is just a temporary plus we can enjoy until they decide to backstab.
