We have heard it more than a thousand times in TRP - DON’T GET MARRIED. It is now time to take the next natural step in our evolution as a movement and shift from a reactive position to a proactive position. Divorce rates in the USA are at 53% and climbing, divorce rates in parts of Europe are between 60-70%. Humans are not monogamous by design, it is time for the madness to stop. Men need to stand up for themselves and stop getting sacrificed on the wedding altar of family law courts. It is time that men stood up and put a stop to divorce rape and the state abducting his children and garnishing his wages. It is time for the madness to stop. Marriage should not be enforced by the state and it should be abolished.

If two people want to go ahead and perform some ridiculous ceremony in private then they should just go ahead and do it. The fact that the government, police and courts get involved is beyond ridiculous. The idea that the state can limit a parent’s access to their child is ridiculous. Why are men just laying down and allowing the courts to treat them this way? Why have men allowed an unfair system to be imposed upon them? Why would any man allow someone to break the marital contract, throw him out of his family home, move another man in, not allow a father access to his children, and force him to make payments to the person who did this to him? Not to mention the fact that the payments are not audited in any way which allows the woman to spend the money in any way she sees fit, and not necessarily on the man’s children.

Based on a 2010 census only 3% of men receive spousal maintenance payments. So 97% of spousal maintenance payments are made by men. So while women are earning more than men in some age brackets, there are more women in university and women complain about unequal pay because of their own work and lifestyle choices, no one talks about the inequality of spousal maintenance (alimony). The 2010 census showed that only 1 in 6 fathers are awarded sole custody. So we get around 17% of the child custody and 3% of the spousal maintenance, does that sound like an equitable split to you? Would you sign a business contract that was between 53-70% likely to fail and leave you with only a 3% split of the income?

Enough is enough, there is no need to break it down any further, the writing is on the wall and we have heard it all before. The system is broken, enough is enough. It is ridiculous to impose a contract which is between 53-70% likely to fail, so let’s not allow such one sided contracts to exist. The time is now, men need to say not only “don’t get married” but we need to tear the system down and spread the word. This is one area of your life where you do not need to remain silent. Quote the statistics, tell every man you meet not to get married, that is the first step. The second step is to start a new movement, not a marriage equality movement, but a movement to end marriage once and for all. State sanctioned abuse of men and abduction of children needs to stop once and for all.
