I want you to really take the following facts to heart:

1. An average NFL Football game is 3 hours, 12 minutes long

2. “If you tally up the time when the ball is actually in play, the action amounts to a mere 11 minutes.” (1)

This begs the question: what are you actually watching when you tune into an NFL game?

In addition to the 11 minutes of play time, the Wall Street Journal calculates you'll see:

  • 17 minutes of replay (more replays than live action!)
  • 75 minutes of “watching players, coaches, and referees essentially loiter on the field”
  • 60 minutes of commercials

Then you add in:

  • Pre-game shows
  • Post-game analysis
  • Sportscenter
  • Sports talk radio

And it becomes clear that the NFL isn't really about the game.

Folks, it’s mind control. I know that term freaks some of you out, and triggers a defensive reaction. But seriously, you’re watching reality television for beta males. It’s the same thing as a woman watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Pro sports channel your natural masculine tendencies (for competition, violence, strategic thinking, etc.) into a safe outlet that the ownership class can profit from. That’s it. You get a nice dopamine rush from the simulated tribal conflict, and get to feel like a “real man” when your team is on top.

It’s all fake. You spend the vast majority of time not even watching the games. You spend most of the time watching other people talk about the games! I mean that is now multiple steps removed from reality.

You begin with a real and natural urge for competition. Let’s call this the Warrior drive. The warrior drive cannot be fully utilized in a peaceful society, so you sign up for contact sports. Eventually you get weeded out of contact sports and resort to watching sports instead. Most people can’t actually focus for 3 straight hours, though, so the entertainment needs to be enhanced. It needs to become reality TV, a spectacle.

So we have:

Warrior Drive —> Contact Sports —> Watching Sports —> Watching Reality TV

This is beta behavior. Alpha males don’t watch, they want to be on the field competing.

Just some food for thought. All things being equal, I hope the Patriots win, but this shit is mind control! You've been warned.
