Amused mastery is looking down your nose at someone with a smirk because you have been in the same situation many times before and it doesn't phase you. For example,

Girl: Ew, why are you wearing a pink shirt/

You: Ok, who brought their little sister to the bar?

So is it sort of like applied confidence? A cocky attitude along with some wit and the belief that you are better than them?

sorta, but really just look at the two words in play:

Amused - you don't get mad, sad or overreact to provocation, you find them amusing, like if you played peekaboo with a child. You get a kick out of their reaction.

Mastery - She's not presenting you with an unknown, irreconcilable challege - you know the game and you can give it as good as you got it, but instead you demur. That's why you're just amused, and nothing else.

It's often tied to the idea of agreeing and amplifying:

"Does this dress make me look fat?"

"Yep, the fattest (smack her on the ass)"

Hope that helps a little.

This actually helps a lot, and allows me to realize I haven't mastered it yet. My LTR can sometimes get the better of me and make me break frame. I need to get better at handling frustration..

Thanks knitro!

Go on Youtube and look up videos of comedians dealing with hecklers.

If you were up there the first time and someone says "You suck!" you wouldn't know what to do and your act (frame) would suffer.

However, good comedians love hecklers because they've heard everything there is to hear and they can absolutley embarass any drunken idea that tries to heckle them.

The best way I've seen it described is the way you would imagine dealing with an 8 year old in all your interactions.

Imagine going to lunch with an 8 year old ..how would you communicate? Its not that you wouldn't be able to talk but you know this person is coming from a lesser developed perspective that you have the ability to fully comprehend ..so you don't take anything they do all that seriously and in some ways have to protect them from themselves since you know better ..

I think it was danger&play who said that there are two modes of dealing with women (archetypally speaking..if thats even a word)..father to daughter or mother to son, I could get into it but I don't really need to explain the connections between a girls father and her psychology since its common knowledge ...amused mastery is the essence of the father daughter dynamic.

Interesting analogy.. I'll definitely imagine I'm talking to an 8 yr old the next time I start to feel frustrated in a drawn-out conversation/argument.

Thanks!

Also yes, even though it looks like a jumbled mess, archetypally is a word.

Women want to feel secure and they want a man that they know will take care of them and assure that they are safe even when they are experiencing the thrills of danger. The best way to achieve this is by embracing a father archetype. Act as if she's your little girl you are showing the joys and beauties of the world to. You're an old soul that's been around the block so many times nothing surprises you and everything is at your command.

I feel like this one of the more powerful elements of game that doesn't get talked about enough. Amused master should always be your essential frame.

Amused mastery boils down to one simple premise: as a kickass man, nothing bothers/fazes you. Most situations, be it a mistake on your part, an attack on your character, or an out-of-line plate, can be defused with a smirk and chuckle. Becoming worked-up, bothered, etc., and the energy such negative emotions require, is beneath you.

In a LTR I once had, my gf sometimes came forward with concerns (not enough attention to her, blah blah, etc. We are no longer together). Every time, I would chuckle. "Why do you always laugh!?!" she'd cry, exasperated. I just kept chuckling. It was genuinely amusing. Then we'd have great sex, and the problem would be forgotten.

Amusing mastery can be utilized in a number of ways. As I noted above, simply smiling and laughing can be effective, though in some situations this may come off as you being socially incompetent. Similarly, something witty with that ever-so-famous shit-eating grin can be devastating, not to mention hilarious. These can be light-hearted jokes that the accuser can laugh along with, or they might be light digs at your attacker. Either way, you remain on top.

Alternatively, Agreeing and Amplifying is a great tool. Let's say you're just bombing with a girl. "You don't talk to girls much, do you..." You respond with "No, I'm on a strict 'Mom-only' policy. Consider yourself lucky ;)." This interaction probably isn't going anywhere, but so what. You're having a good time, and what the fuck else is important.

I also use A&A religiously with my buddies. If you're anything like I am with my friends, you'll be crucified unless you take shit and dish it out like a pro. I might do something that will prompt my friend to teasingly say "Wow dude, you're so lame!" Then I'll go "The lamest, it's a miracle I'm so damn popular." Then we laugh, I call him an idiot, and the cycle continues.

This got long, but I feel this is an important concept to understand. Everything is amusing with the right mindset, aside from the obvious (don't go cracking jokes at funerals, you asshole). If you're ever in doubt, just try and remember:

Life's a joke. It's best to be in on the punch-line.
