There's a difference between politeness and being a doormat. And there's a difference between being polite and apologizing for everything.

Politeness is ording food and not getting upset if they screw up the order. Politeness is treating people with respect the first time you meet them.

This is something I first read in Attraction Isnt A Choice by David Deangelo. And man did it fuck me up in highschool!

I became a arrogant jerk who never apologized while thinking I was being cocky and funny.

Dude. Dont take anything to an extream. A man who has a strong character and a steady overflow in confidence should be able to apologize to ANYONE, even women if he truly thinks he's done wrong.

And doing wrong is human and by being a respectable man all around and then giving out an apology when deserved people will just respect you even more.

I completely agree with the spirit of what you're saying. You want to come off as professional and friendly in a professional environment to better your social image. In a social setting, you want to come off as amicable, but being a pansy who never takes the initiative will land you with deadbeat friends and no pussy at the end of the day.

Seldom apologizing is one of the best lessons I've learned from TRP. I was one of those people who had "sorry" built into his vocabulary, but I changed that. Now my sorries count for something, when I occasionally fuck up and have no defense for it.

You got that right. Years ago, in my deep blue beta days i used to try not to rock the boat so much, i apologized to everyone who questioned my actions. I had the DEER response like Glover points out in No more mr. Nice guy.

I had two classmates in college, male and female, and she was in love with him (he was kinda reluctant to reciprocate, i dunno why, she was hot, but a bit nerdy) and I was always in the way when we were hanging out in the hallway, so she would attacked and insult me so I would leave them alone. Once she also did so and i started apologizing to her for some bs remark and another girl from college was listening to this and she said to herself almost in shock: " look at him! He's actually apologizing!". I guess she could see that my classmate was attacking me for her own reasons and not for anything I actually did or say.

At that time i had come to my senses and shut up immediately, realising what a cringy little worm i must have been in their eyes, babbling like an neutered idiot... The irony was of course totally in line with RP,,that the male classmate was goodlooking, bit alpha type of a guy and the female classmate never called him out on any of the bs, but rather aknowledged him and stared at him with starry eyes, ready to be totally subservient to him. Damn did i hate that cunt...

So, lesson learned: apologizing to a woman won't make her respect you, always remember that women demand respect and apologies only from guys that they feel some distance to. Alpha's on the other hand are always close to their heart...

It kind of depends on how you come across as well. A 240 lb muscular guy can be "too polite" (trps definition of it), and not get walked over (as long as he has a spine which guys like that usually do; the effort it takes to look like that translates into a healthy ego). Remember your brain is still 4 million years old; basic biology would dictate it's not a good idea to test a bigger/fitter person. If you're 160 lbs and super polite, yeah you'll have people take advantage of you.

Brian Shaw is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, he's also someone many normal people (including the douches) would want to tick off.
