First of all I just want to say that I am fairly new to TRP and I am still absorbing, reading, and listening to all of the useful information that is available. I am transitioning from my Life long BP ways to a new RP driven lifestyle. It is eye opening to say the least, and not an easy pill to swallow, but the more knowledgable I become the more it all makes sense, especially after being brain washed by BP ways my entire life.

Anyways, I had a thought come to mind today that I would like to share and get some insight and second opinions on. I've realized that no relationship is worth "fighting" for. Being the "relationship" type guy my entire life (aka AFC, Nice Guy, beta buck, etc.) this concept never would have made sense and would have been completely foreign to me before finding TRP. Fighting for, or sacrificing yourself in order to make a relationship work (or as we know it, losing identity and taking on HERS) is a beta concept that was instilled upon many of us at an early age. Let me explain what I mean when I say "fighting for". Life long BPers and "relationship" guys can probably all relate to the ideas I have on this subject. Now I might sound a bit BP on what I'm about to say to a certain degree, but stay with me. We all know relationships on ANY level require WORK, and some level of give and take. However, when we sacrifice ourselves in order to "please" or "change" and simply state that we are "fighting" for the sake of the relationship status, it's NEVER worth it in the end. How many times have you heard people say "we are working on things" or "we are going through a little bit of a rough patch" or "we are taking some time off". This NEVER plays out well. I've been in plenty of LTRs to know that if at ANY point in the relationship you find yourself "fighting" for your SO in terms of approval, forgiveness, "love", the RELATIONSHIP, or pretty much ANYTHING that doesn't come naturally and isn't forced; FORGET IT. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. At this point I've learned that the respect that you once had is no longer an established part of the relationship. I can recall countless times in my past where I felt the direction of the relationship wasn't going the right way for whatever reason, so I decided to make a change by "fighting" for its survival or to make a change. WRONG. This accomplishes NOTHING and if anything makes the situation worse. Don't get me wrong, doing nice things in your LTR is never a bad thing when it calls for it (applying the 2/3 rule), but I can't stress enough that when you find yourself fighting for something concerning the relationship or above all fighting for the survival of the relationship, forget it, make a decision and move on.

I hope I've made some sense in the point I was trying to get across here.
