Women are either ugly or bangable; there are no numbers or pedastal

[–]Tom_The_Human 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with this; if there are two women who are both undoubtedly hot what does it matter if one's an 8 and the other a 10? After a certain point other traits become more important (in terms of LTRs that is. For one night stands obviously nothing matters more than looks).

[–]ihaphleas[S] -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Bullshit. The numbers are a gross and silly oversimplification and there shouldn't be any pedestal, but your oversimplification is even worse.

Its pretty simple for me. Fuck the numbers. Its basically a hell no. Need to be drunk. I'd hold her hand in the mall. I'd wife her (unicorn). Using numbers is so subjective, but when I interpret numbers people say in this sub I just change it to my personal scale based on the context. It's not like anyone is posting actual pictures of these girls so why concern yourself about reality 'looks' when there is no evidence and its all the text based.

Someone tells a story about an HB9 and you want your HB9 to have some curves, but in actuality the HB9 got no titties does it matter? Using a 1-10 scale is just s general universal system that is not a controlled measurement (try and do an MSA on it I dare you...). Personally for me if I hear 5(or average) or less that would probably mean they don't even pop up on my radar when walking. Mostly because average in the U.S. is almost obese.

I haven't read a lot of the material on the sidebar, and perhaps this is answered there, but I have a question and some comments about the HB and SMV scales.

You're not qualified to say that brother. More questions and less statements that other people are wrong when you walk into a sub saying you've not read anything.

Binary like /u/tombreck2 said.

0 or 1.

This helps with you not shitting your pants dealing with what you'd consider a HB9.

[–]ihaphleas[S] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see any reason to shit my pants in any case ;-)

I've always thought of it as a normal distribution. The average is a 5. One standard deviation either way to 4 and 6. Two deviations to 3 and 7. A ten ends up being like one in 10000.

[–]ihaphleas[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is good, but the integral gives an s-curve which would be similar to my formulation in the interval we're considering. Frankly, I don't think we use it very consistently anyway.

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So you're saying that 94% of women are a 4 or worse? Definitely not how the scale is used.

Imo the scale is gradually slanted from left to right, while 10 is actually a special number used only to describe the exceptional cases.

Population distribution like this:

1 - 15%

2 - 14%

3 - 13%

4 - 12%

5 - 11%

6 - 10%

7 - 9%

8 - 8%

9 - 7%

10 - 1%

[–]ihaphleas[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, we certainly don't use the scale as I stated -- but it's unclear how it's actually used. That's a very specific distribution you have there. Another possibility, as someone else pointed out, is to use the numbers as a measure of standard deviation (assuming a normal distribution). But that doesn't really match actual use either.

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Normal distribution also came to mind for me. But I think we can all agree there are a hell of a lot more 1s than there are 10s.

[–]Billetbill 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Linear. 1-10 is linear, 1-1024 is logarithmic. Every chick likes to think she is somewhere between 512-1024 though. 10 is hardly a big enough number to rate a real deal princess.

[–]Billetbill 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Edit: I misunderstood that you are trying to find the statistical prevalence of "10" women. Is that website "hot or not" still up? I don't remember seeing very many perfect 10's on it anyway.

I haven't read a lot of the material on the sidebar

Then take a break and read it. You are not smarter than the sidebar. This is going into the shredder.

[–]ihaphleas[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a laugh. TRP has some wisdom, but to assume I'm not smarter than the sidebar is a stretch.
