I agree it needs to be updated but its going to be hard because we teach us to hold our own beliefs. The biggest thing I can think of is be the best version of yourself, physically, professionally, psychologically, and emotionally. We teach men not to be walked on and to have self respect and to live our lives the way we want to not by how others want us to.

Exactly. There could be a general short concise intro, and it should be something pretty close to what you wrote here.

I believe TRP was originally founded on the basis of not seduction but seeing through the bullshit everyone spews out, including our own. It was, and still is, a logical way of approaching situations, predominantly interactions with the female sex.

As this sub expanded, it also evolved to encompass the thoughts of newcomers or "noobs", who previously may not have had any contact with anything red pill. Whilst the topic of self actualization was always there, it has steadily garnered attention, and for good reason.

TRP preaches the importance of value, and what better way to be high value than to actually BE high value? It is for this reason that I am a strong advocate of what I call self betterment.

To answer your question, yes, I do believe ourintroductionneeds to be reworked to encompass all tenets of TRP

But different people have different definitions of value. Part of TRP is to speak clearly on what is actually valued by observing the actions of those in our society. Being high value is important, but before that you have to know what is valued.

The book: "Practical Female Psychology for the Practical Man" needs to be added, as well as many other books.

Thanks been looking for new books to read.us

The introduction is fine.

TRP itself was never specifically about self-actuilization or "becoming the best you can be". If you want that, head over to /r/becomeaman. TRP is simply information about what we believe to be the truth about both genders. However you want to use that information is up to you. This specific subreddit was created to discuss sexual strategy, which the introduction outlines.

[–]Dream4eva1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, key term here is 'sexual strategy'.

[–]Hokuten850 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The introduction could use some work, but if anything I think it needs to be more aggressive. I worry about the message becoming watered down.

best version of yourself, physically, professionally, psychologically, and emotionally

While this is true, it needs to be aggressive in explaining why. This is a sexual strategy that pulls the power back into our court. It is a power strategy to improve your status on the social ladder. A strategy to assert yourself in a manner that will get you promoted. A strategy that drives for dominance in all your relationships with both women AND other men.

Actually, the Introduction is fine as it is, it sums up RP very well. If you're new to the red pill, this subreddit isn't the best way to learn about it, in my opinion. A lot of people here think it's solely about self improvement or actualization, which it is not. The Red Pill is about seeing the world for what it truly is (rather than what society wants it to be and keeps pretending is truth), and the manosphere/redpill blogs take this to heart, exploring politics, diet, ethics, technology, etc. Don't get me wrong, becoming a better, truly attractive man is a big focus on this sub, but it's mostly about becoming a happy, fulfilled man in our overly feminized, pc culture. And when are men the happiest? When they are getting laid on the regular with the kind of chicks they're attracted to. And how does a man have sex on the regular with the kinds of women he wants? By being attractive to them. And how does he become attractive to them? By being strong and fit, confident, having a cool lifestyle and a mission to accomplish, and knowing how to interact with women from the approach to the bedroom.

TLDR: The main thrust (heh) here is getting sex, and the method for getting sex is becoming an attractive man.

I absolutely agree. There needs to be more concensus on what values are actually held here to avoid confusion. It's one thing for someone to understand what TRP is and reject it, but something else altogether for someone to misunderstand TRP values and reject (edit: or accept!) them out of ignorance. We owe it to newcomers and haters alike to lay it all on the line, black and white, clear as crystal, and the current introduction does a poor job of accomplishing that.

Edit2: I'd like to take this opportunity to ask members of the community what they think should be included in a new Introduction/FAQ, if one were to be created. Any theories posited should have evidence to back them up, and all data should be sourced.

[–]1mrust-2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, we do not need to build consensus. Those are weasel words.

The haters who come here do not want to understand and certainly don't spend their time reading our side bar. On their rare visit, they will scan the list of title posts for any that stand out to confirm their own beliefs.

We do not owe them anything. Your entire post screams concern shaming.

[–]deepsouthscoundrel2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, fuck the haters then. I still think that we owe newcomers who want to understand what TRP is all about a clear and concise overview of what our thesis is, and the current introduction does a poor job of that.
