Summary: Wait to talk about your achievements and both men and women will be more impressed.
Every man knows that talking about himself to a woman is dangerous territory. Before I took the Red Pill, I was totally lost. Do I smugly list my virtues to seem confident, but risk coming off as cocky or a try-hard? Or do I remain modest and risk being labeled a "nice guy"? I struggled with this conundrum until a friend of mine, Gary, opened my eyes as to how to be both confident and modest.
Gary and I had been friends for months, bonding over our sports fanaticism. We had talked sports a million times, and as we sat there watching a college football game I asked Gary if he had ever played any sports himself. Casually, he mentioned that he had been a Divison 1 College Field Goal Kicker, who could boot through the uprights from 55+ yards. He had even almost been drafted into the NFL.
I was taken aback. A million sports conversations, even a million football conversations, and he had still never mentioned this impressive accomplishment. Modesty? Maybe. But the way he told me was not modest at all. He proudly told me just how good he was, and how close he was to going pro. Now of course, if he had told me this upon our first meeting, I probably would have thought he was a cocky ass. But he accomplished three things by waiting so long to tell me:
1) He showed confidence. He knew he didn't need to prove anything about himself to be my friend. Betas are constantly trying to justify their worth by talking about themselves.
2) He made himself seem more mysterious. What other interesting secrets is he hiding?
3) He showed that he is disciplined. I'm sure he had wanted to tell me for a long time, but he chose to wait until I asked him which sports he played. That takes some discipline.
I'm not going to go fucking Gary or anything, but I definitely respect him more after that. I'm sure that women would have the same response. What do they want more than a mysterious, confident, and disciplined man?
Lesson Learned: The longer you keep your accomplishments a secret, the more people will be impressed. When you do talk about yourself, talk confidently. NEVER talk about your accomplishments on the first date or meeting, because that is what betas do.
