Thou shalt let her establish the status quo.

There are other preferable ways of going about this, ways in which you yourself can establish the status quo (i.e. set the frame).

Making it clear that you are the guy who needs lots of time to himself is one way (the "mysterious" type. Let her try to "figure you out")

Making it clear that you're taking a break from "anything serious" is another way (one way of demonstrating pre-selection - you're choosing to bench yourself for a minute or two. You can let her wonder if you're seeing anyone else, or you can flat out tell her you have other playthings you carve out a slice of time for here and there. Let her try to be "the one" to bring you back into the game or go exclusive)
