It probably has to do with the tone of the highest rated comment and how quickly it is. If some RP dude puts a comment in first and doesnt use TRP terminology it probably gets upvoted heavily and it sets the tone for the entire thread.

Seems like you're making a lot of pre-judgments about the OP when we're actually given very little information about their relationship.
When you like you someone that much it's easy for that fondness to carry over to people they're related to, ie her daughter. So that I can understand.
And yes in this case, she turned out to be a cheating whore, but I think he actually handled it pretty well. God knows some guys would be so disillusioned they would have actually forgiven her and tried to work it out. I actually got the impression he did learn a lesson.
