I've had some thoughts on the nice guys cultural idea and the reaction to nice guys to see if it would potentially be a good avenue for discussion.

There are a lot of self-proclaimed "nice guys" who complain bitterly that women don't value their kindness and that they seek out assholes who mistreat them. We all know the archetype so I won't go into explaining this too much.

There's also a cultural reaction against nice guys. You see this in /r/cringepics and other corners of the internet/life where women and other men attack nice guys as not being nice guys at all. The central argument against "nice guys" is that they're not nice because they wrongly believe kindness should be reciprocated with sex. This view seems to have fairly unanimous consent among women who both loathe nice guys and loathe when they complain.

But I think the reaction against "nice guys" misses a crucial part of the relationship between the nice guys and women. First, its obvious nice guys are beta males who mistakenly believe women value kindness when in reality women value high status which is highly correlated with being an "asshole" since assholes don't have to pay any kind of social tribute in the form of kindness.

But the arguments against "nice guys" miss the uneven nature of the relationship with between nice guys and women. Women know that the nice-guy orbiters are interested in them sexually. But since the men are too timid to directly ask, the women enter into these "friendships" in which they receive support, compliments, and advice from the nice-guys without giving anything in return. By anything I don't just mean sexual actions, but they rarely will listen to the guys problems or reciprocate the relationship in anyway. Nice guys believe (or hope) that this one-sided relationship will eventually lead to an actual relationship, but they become bitter when they see that their emotional support hasn't been reciprocated with any emotional or sexual support form the woman.

Women of course characteristically omit their own role in these kinds of relationships because they feel entitled to receive emotional support without giving anything in return. But women hate the reverse. The reverse scenario would be a man who only has sex with a woman but doesn't provide any emotional support (the "asshole"). It's seen as unfair that the woman provides sex but doesn't get emotional commitment, while it's seen as perfectly fair that the man provides emotional commitment but receives neither sex nor emotional commitment in response.

The obvious corrective action for the man is to stop being a nice-guy orbiter because it won't get you anywhere in this sexual market. Women will never recognize their role in perpetuating these one-sided relationships but will continue to vilify and hate the beta males, not because they're sexist, but because they're beta.
