Finally, for every one person who lies about rape (incredibly rare, in my view), there are tens of thousands of assholes telling real rape victims that they deserved it or wanted it. Dudes, this has got to stop.

Now my BS meter can't really go off any higher than this. This is a classic case of "men are rapists" without any second thought. I looked and could find ONE case of someone raping a person in a bar bathroom, and this was a homeless serial rapist. This is not going to be the case with a coworker, in a crowded bar. Is it possible? Yes, but in the same way you'd have Eva Mendez dating a beta male. We're supposed to imagine a woman so intoxicated, that she was carried through the bar in front of a bar full of people? Or did she go willingly? Now she's in this stall, getting pounded on and she can't yell for help? Or let's say she does, and this guy isn't going to BOLT out the door or start defending himself that it was consensual? Of course none of this is mentioned in the story.

Drinking>Rape>End of discussion.

Lessons learned

Sleeping with a woman that has a ring on her finger is risky business in a bar, when she gets discovered, she has to make a choice. You or (if her girlfriends aren't supporting her deviance) her reputation and social capital.

The social economics here do not work in your favor. You're legally and socially screwed, she will become a hero figure in her social circle. Meanwhile her fiancee remains an emasculated jackass, it's all win from her side.

What happened here is obvious. Once Chad started going to town on her, word got out into the bar, people started peaking their heads in and she had a moment of clarity "tomorrow morning, I will be the dumpster slut to everyone I know."

What could Chad have done different?

  • Gauged the behavior of her group (In this case, likely hostile, judgmental of her behavior) (For instance, if they were dismissive to their engagement, it's unlikely she'd have been concerned about blowing her cover)
  • Built attraction, got digits and invited her to another location or follow up.

Instead, Chad accidentally built a pressure cooker because Chad forced a choice that he didn't have enough value to overcome, he asked her to sacrifice all the social capital she had accumulated over the years and blow it in one night, he wasn't worth it.

Now clearly, clearly, Chad doesn't DESERVE this. But Chad, and everyone needs to realize the fever pitch everyone is in, in terms of the anti male climate. Every man is a rapist, pedophile, abuser etc.

What I fully expect to happen is that once this case starts rolling, that suddenly it will come out that the encounter "seemed consensual" from all parties until it went down in the bathroom. Where were her friends when this happened? Why weren't they with her?

The answer is that she didn't want to be around her friends, she had ulterior motives. She was actually spinning plates with her friends and Chad. They met in the bathroom but she wasn't smart enough to realize that no one discretely has sex in a bar bathroom. Once the circus started it was over for Chad.

Overall lesson

In order to insulate yourself against false rape claims you need to be able credibly establish that your encounters are consensual and provide plausible deniability on her end. If she gets caught going out to dinner with Chad, he's "a work friend." No such pressure mechanism exists when you're ass blasting a cum dumpster in a bar bathroom.
