I've gotten it done and you will hurt for about a month afterwards. It's actually a really fucked up thing because when you go in to get it done a lot of doctors make sure they have your wife's permission first. I had to bring my wife in to say it was cool to have it done before he would do it. Then they basically burn the hole shut and off you go sore as fuck for a few days and then it feels like you've been kicked in the balls for about 1 or 2 months.

They also say that the procedure is reversible but the chances of success aren't encouraging. Also the reversal surgery is pretty fucking bad. You will need a shit ton of recuperation time from it and your whole groin area is going to be black and blue for a while. Lots of bruising and pain from it without a guarantee of reversal.

My honest opinion is that unless you are 1000% sure that you don't want kids, stay away from this. You will still have to use condoms to avoid nasty crotch warts or dick fire or whatever sickness is going around. So since you're using condoms anyways stay with those.

If you say you want kids better to bank your sperm first. forget how much it costs per month to do it, but sperm stored under the proper condition lasts for upwards of 20 years. A smart investment if you could afford it

Slightly familiar with the procedure and the nuances of a vasectomy. Lets get something straight, you are VERY young. I will surmise that the majority of urologists will NOT perform the procedure on you as a vasectomy is considered a last resort of birth control and is usually reserved for much, much older men and fathers. They will try to talk you out of it especially if you seem like a normal man with a typical lifestyle. I very much doubt that urologists will perform this for you because of a whim or even if you seriously considered this for a while and you might have to ask around for quite some time to find one that will perform the procedure. Urologists are very skilled and educated practitioners of medicine with many patients. Many will NOT waste time on a reversal should you elect to go under the knife again.

You are probably worried about the chance of getting a chick pregnant, especially if she isn't the type you would take home to your mother or one you would want to marry. Maybe you don't want to risk getting slammed with child support or getting sperm-jacked. Very understandable.

As someone else has pointed out, the reverse procedure carries risk especially if you still desire offspring. Think carefully about this. I suggest still using condoms and spermicide, making sure they are your condoms and not hers, they aren't defective, and disposing them properly either by rinsing them out with water/alcohol.

Vasagel won't be out in the market for quite some time. You might be a father before it is approved. For a man your age, a vasectomy has more cons than pros. Think it through.

'I want to eventually settle down and have kids'.... I'm not sure why your even considering the procedure if your still thinking you might want kids.

I'm interested in getting the procedure done, purely because I don't want kids.

I'm an old married guy. Traditional old-fashioned marriage, SAHM, traditional gender roles, Captain/First-Mate, etc. We had one kid which is all I wanted, then I got the vasectomy. It's not a big deal & there's no change in function or anything else. Snip, snip, a couple days of tenderness & you're done.

Listen. If you know you want to have kids don't have a vasectomy till you do. The possibility of reversal is not guaranteed. There can be issues with frozen sperm as well.

Besides, if your plan is to marry-up with the eventual mother of your children (which it should be if you plan to have children in the first place) you and she will want to conceive the old-fashioned natural way anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to see a good woman (the type you'd want to marry) reject you as marriage/father material when you tell her about your vasectomy & "banked sperm." Too weird. What would you say if your prospective wife told you she'd had her tubes tied to avoid pregnancy, but "no worries, honey, I've got some frozen eggs banked." How would you feel about that? Would you think it weird? Would you consider her mother/wife material?

(And don't start your marriage lying to your wife. You should never have to lie to your wife. Don't go down that road ... I can tell you from experience.)

I had the 'scalpel vasectomy' done about six months ago. The doctor had to inject 4 locals in each ball. The pain in my right nut - I still shudder. Also then seeing part of my testicles in a jar.......

Just wait for Vasal gel. Until then, keep using condoms and try to limit your interaction with sluts.
