It's basically like you said, insurance. Women secure the men with the best genes while they are young, tight, fertile and in their sexual prime. They know they can't do this once they hit the wall. So when the finally catch themselves an alpha, subconsciously they know that the alpha's have the ability to walk away but betas do not. Women still want the alpha in a man, but they need him to have beta characteristics, so as to tame and secure him to fulfill their own sexual mating strategy. They need him to have that oneitis vision, they despise an alpha's abundance mentality so they shame him and fight tooth and nail to create a scarcity mentality. They hate the thought of having to compete with other women for the chunk of meat they have secured. So they make like hyenas and roll over it making it, filthy and smell too nasty for other animals to even consider eating . Other methods they can use are 'accidental' pregnancy so as to try disarm alpha's from walking away.

That's how evolutionary psychology works. Women want an Alpha, at any cost, no denying that. But how does she know he's a true Alpha? By constantly shit testing him and trying to break his frame. She's making him prove he's a true Alpha. Once his frame breaks, he's no longer a true Alpha, but a Beta acting like an Alpha, and that shit is a turn off, and in a primitive society, could make the difference between life and death.

This is female strategy for finding the best possible sexual partner, in terms of survival, security and luxury. A true Alpha can provide these 3 essentials to ensure the production of offspring, which as a species, is our evolutionary goal. This worked exceptionally well in ancient caveman days.

I disagree with the comments saying that women who use this strategy are psychopathic. Yes, psychopaths enjoy controlling others and successfully breaking people's frames is very enjoyable for them. But normal women don't do it for the enjoyment, even if they do enjoy it nonetheless, they are doing it for their own survival.

Good old ego thing. Like do you want your significant other to act in expected way? And provide you with more and more services and goods e.g. like 'do more this, do less this'?

And you never can't stop. Wouldn't it be cool is she's also do this and do that. Well, they lose attraction because during this process they lose all the respect for the guy who agree to be a whim.

But nobody plan thoroughly and think it through. And even if they think it through they still WANT. Like you're fat ass and you know you need to cut calories but you still can't control yourself. Guess why?

But I don't think that somebody plan this consciously, and subconscious theories including evolutionary biology are mostly speculations.
