Wife quoting from sidebar without knowing it

After the kids went to bed my wife complained and cried a bit that our 8 year old son doesn't love her the same way she loves him. Apparently he misbehaved and when he was scolded said some shit about her being "annoying". Wife goes on bitching and says the kid "is soooo sweet to his grandfathers puppy. He cuddles and kisses it. He doesn't do that with me anymore"

She sounded like I did when I recently learned about RP. She sounded like many of the angry guys here who are still trying to accept that women don't love you like wish they could.

MEN<WOMEN<CHILDREN<PETS. Love flows downhill Gents.

Hearing her grapple with this truth gave me some comfort. Not sure exactly why but I felt peace.... I think it drove home that TRP is universal and shielding our eyes to avoid pain is a bad way to go through life.

I think it's honestly just that our programming for wanting children is very strong. Not just societal, but societal and biological. When you combine that with the fact that children give us an opportunity to pass on our legacy and make our lives on earth feel meaningful... it basically becomes something that most men ultimately want. Men become fathers for various reasons and you could say that most of them are ridiculous, like because society says its "noble" or his "duty". But I'd argue that some are simply because reality made us that way. We seek sex because nature programmed sex to feel fucking awesome.

We seek to have kids because (I'd imagine, I don't have any) we receive massive happiness and rewards from growing them and watching them accomplish shit as we get old. The parent also gets to feel like the kid is their masterpiece, their project that they grew - so you can argue it's for narcisstic reasons (which would explain why a lot of RP guys historically were "patriarchs" in the sense of fathering massive lineages. It fed their narcissism and sense of importance.

Whichever explanation you choose, I'd argue raising kids is not RP or BP, but it can be either depending on how you do it. So RP men "bother" with it because they likely believe they can do it in the RP way.

We are programmed to procreate, it's hard to ignore that, but some can rationalize not having kids. Other people just go along, like religion or supporting the local sports franchise.

In mid-life many social circles require kids. In politics having a wife and kids helps, this is true in religious and community events.

In late life kids might prove to be a good pension system, also some may provide health services. Some kids might even prove to be good friends and leisure time buddies.

Humans live healthier and longer with strong social networks, families are a really good way to meet and connect with people you might never meet otherwise, especially people in younger generations.

Finally, my father once told me that having my brother and I was the best thing he has done in his life. At first I just passed it off as 'a nice thing for him to say with no downside.' Recently, I've seen that it's mostly true. He's been financially successful, but hasn't kept relationships with business partners past doing business with them. He's been married 3 times and has had 3 other women that were wives in all but name. All of these relationships have ended in failure. He's moved several times in life, so doesn't have any long term friends, but he can pretty easily make new ones. So, all in all, my brother and I have grown and enjoyed being with my father for nearly 50 years. We have a bond and trust that few people enjoy. A well functioning family unit can really be beneficial, but takes effort and care. Not everyone can do that.

There are no unicorns. BUT..... some women certainly are "easier" than others. If she responds well to your leadership and you sense low financial risk than you could consider her. Just make sure you learn from us older guys here that marriage/kids is no time to take foot off gas and "be yourself". That shit will get you divorced. Or worse... doing all the cooking and laundry while SHE is working/out with friends etc

I KNEW how to play field and date women BUT... no one told me that I needed to keep my game sharp, keep lifting, be aloof, maintain female relationships for dread (and fun!) AFTER I got married. I cant believe who I allowed myself to become. Stay the SAME bad ass that attracted her and you will be just fine.

Remember-- time is friendlier to us so if you maintain your edges then you dont need to FEAR LTR. Just fear letting yourself get soft
