In general, I’ve learned quite a bit from reading books about first impressions. Some information can be dated in a social media culture, and some of it can be more male oriented, but it can help to read about things to gain perspective.

I saw your previous post history mentioned neurodivergency, so I’m going to break down some stuff and specific examples that I personally find very helpful:

When meeting new people asking simple questions about them, listening to the answers, and following up on those answers with another question is a good way to show active listening skills.

If you struggle with over sharing, it’s a good idea to find ways to keep yourself present so you don’t accidentally dominate a conversation. Try to imagine a stopping point, or mental limit to a story or topic, before you work to engage the other person again.

And just overall, be clean, hygienic, dressed sensibly for the situation. Keep your safety paramount and in mind. There are places where meeting new people and potential friends makes perfect sense, like at a library, a gym, a hobby or social activity. And places where it isn’t, like on the street, at a grocery store, on your way too or from home or work. Don’t choose socializing over safety in an attempt to be nice or accommodating to anyone.

Be more interested in other people than in what they think of you. Being the right level of warm and open vs appropriate has no set rules, everyone has different standards for what they're comfortable with, so to get the balance right you should be monitoring the other person's responses - its often best to follow their lead.

In my opinion the two best ways to have 'good vibes' is 1. to be genuinely interested in people and their stories 2. understand you can't win everyone over, and not to take this too personally if and when this happens.
