When asked about cooking

I enjoy cooking as well and when I was dating I had some nice conversations with men about cooking and food. I dated a fellow foodie for a while, we had some fun culinary experiences. I never, ever felt that I was being pushed to cook for a man unless it was for a good reason and I truly wanted to do it and I felt he would appreciate it. If someone had said something stupid like "Oh save some for me!" or "I'll be right over" , I'd have stopped talking to them. But I don't see the need to hide any of my legitimate interests or conversational topics.

You can share your love of cooking as much as you want as long as you don’t forget your boundaries around it. Just because you love cooking for your family doesn’t mean any man you date gets those perks. It’s a standard you can have for yourself without any explaining to him, because you don’t owe him an explanation.

I tell the truth: I hate doing it so I don’t do it much. That’s always killed the conversation for me. Even during my pick me era when I shacked up with a boyfriend, I hardly ever cooked. He could afford take out and restaurants for us every night.
