Going back to an ex is like a dog going back to eat it's own vomit. Making friends with her is a good idea though. Do not waste your time with therapy, that just makes shit worse. Be a great friend, she is carrying your seed (are you sure it is yours?). Get Machiavellian, lift, focus on your mission, try and get equal access and custody. You have ZERO obligation to support her. You have 100% obligation to support your child. Man the fuck up and recognize that you don't owe her anything like foot rubs, time with her, rubbing her belly, affirming her, etc. You owe your child a stable home, food on the table, clothes on the back, and a father he/she can look up to and respect.

Your ex is holding you at a distance and extracting all things of value from you while OVERTLY refusing to add value back. And this is when she "needs" you. How bad is it going to get when the kid is a 2 year old hellion, she has her hot pre-baby body back, the guys at work are flirting with her, and she doesn't feel like she needs you anymore?

My advice is focus on three things right now: 1) pull away from the ex and set clear boundaries right now that you are NOT together, 2) focus on being the best you that you can be (lift, sidebar, read everything you can about fatherhood, get your finances right, etc.), and 3) have a vision plan of what you want your fatherhood to this child to look like and how you will execute that in macro and micro steps.

Also, get a paternity test.
