Ultimate goal is to get to a 2,000 total between B / S / D. My guess is that translates to around a 500 bench, 700 dead, and 800 squat. I'd like to do that in the 242 or 231 weight classes if possible. Right now, I'm just focused on getting 250+ g protein per day.

Here's where I'm at now though... you can say what you want now regardless of how she responds. You can make that change now. And you will be happier for it. Frame for you now is better than later. Just know that a fat loser developing frame isn't nearly as 'tingle-generating' as a getting-fitter-and-taking-more-care-of-his-shit guy developing frame. Your mileage may vary.

"Wreck havoc?" "This kind of power?" "Long, muscular legs?" After two weeks, this is all you are.

Completed week 2 and I find myself practicing at home now. I recite the movements with perfect technique (to be best of my limited knowledge). I've also learned how to ruin someone's fucking day with a kick. Kicks are devastating, and I have long, muscular legs that can wreck havoc. It's like hitting someone with a baseball bat; I never knew I possessed this kind of power. I haven't been kicked hard yet however, I'm sure humility is on its way. Really? 2 weeks? You must be better than Bruce Lee …

You mistook a youtube link for a photo and thought they all weighed the same. You think guys have just as much of a chance being 11% as 19% BF. You are stupid and not worth any more of my time.

Those pics simply show that you have a decent physique and workout but that you also aren't close to 11%.

Why does it matter how much you bench? How much $$ you make? How much you squat? How many #s you pulled last week? You don't open conversations with those. Yet they are all valuable numbers to know and post in OYS. Hell, the stickied post had to be made because guys were bullshitting their way through OYS posts without giving that info because they didn't want to be called out on it. Dumbest fucking comment in a long time. But... I'm bored so here we go. First, it's not a picture. It's a screenshot from the YT link I posted that Reddit automatically pulls. The video is of guys who take an advanced DEXA scan to measure BF%. Did you even read it? No, no you didn't. Your comment about guys having equal chances of being 11% or 19% if they measure at 15% implies that being 11% is just as common at 19%. Ok. Finally, calling people out on their lying shit in OYS is what we do here.…

So take this for what you want. But look at your pic that you just posted. Then look at the guy in the video at 4:44. Here's a marker to that spot. https://youtu.be/DdG3QfmjpvU?t=284 This guy had an advanced BF% test showing him at 10.8%. You said you are at 11%. Regardless of height differences, etc. you should have similar physiques. If you have less muscle than him, then you should be much leaner than him as well to offset that portion of the formula. Compare his abs to yours. Compare his a…

Well... maybe I'm missing something but in your current movements, what are you doing that is providing total body stress while punishing the CNS and loading the spine? Looking at your motions, specifically the BW measures, you don't seem to do much that would make your body go "oh shit this is really stressful" which is perhaps the number one benefit of free weight squats and deads. The hormonal responses to squat and dead are significant in adding muscle / hypertrophy which is why guys who did…

BF% isn't perfect. It can vary a bit but not as much as weight or even max totals. For example, if you tell me you weigh 215, that number means very little without context. If you tell me you bench 395, that means more... unless you tell me you also weight 395 (got a guy in my gym like that who can bench close to 5 plates but is literally so fat that it's hard to tell he has muscle). BF% though is somewhat universal. If you are a legitimate 12% BF, then that tells me quite a bit about you irre…

It's hard to compare leg press to squat because they are such different movements. Leg press is a stable, single plane movement with stability controlled for and the back positioned ideally. Barbell squats have little in common with that. For me and most of the guys I know, we generally can do about 2-3x as much on the leg press as with proper depth barbell squats. Also, guys as the end of the bell curve re weight are not the target of my post. You weigh 155 which is definitely at the lower end.…

Agree 100%. This is particularly applicable to guys who are skinny. They automatically assume that means they are sub-15% in BF. Maybe... but if they are weak AF, probably not. Skinny fat is a bitch!

Easily triggered. Look at the video of the guy at 6:08. He has visible abs and decent muscular definition. Not great but not terrible. He's at 16.9%. What was your point again?

Deadlifting barefoot works better for some people than wearing shoes. If you are one of those people but stuck at a gym that makes you wear shoes, get chucks. Best compromise between the flat feel of no shoes versus complying with gym rules.

I’m pointing out that your opsec is garbage and you are hurting your stated mission with your kids. Which is more important? The gear or your kids? You’ve immediately launched into a pissing contest and started slinging mud. Because someone tried to help you. Nerd. Correct but still, nerd. And the last comment is technically correct but isn't applicable to 90% of the people reading this and 100% of the people this post was targetted at. Because, other than perhaps income, those guys aren't a 7 / 8 / 9 in any single sub-aspect of frame, game, or attractiveness, let alone in one of the main 3. So that shit won't work for them. Because society is much, much larger than 107 people on an Internet forum which caters to men who see massive inequality in gender treatment. Your question is like asking why Americans don’t universally love socialism after pointing out that a thread on r/socialism is highly upvoted.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/04/19 05:36 PM

Men are conditioned socially to be independent. This occurs on an individual and a collective level. The individual is told to toughen up. The group is made fun of the minute they form. Society doesn’t want these groups so the loudest voices in society scream them down the moment any such group starts to form. Other groups see these issues as zero sum endeavors and are threatened by anyone else proverbially taking a piece of the pie.

This. This is what I mean by linguistic judo. The NT is clear that women are equal to men in value and worth. The NT is also clear that women and men have different roles, functions, and responsibilities. Put another way... the NT is clear that God is triune. He is Three in One yet the three have different roles and responsibilities. Does that mean that God the Father is more important or better than the Son? Or the Son than the Spirit?
/r/ExRedPill17/03/19 02:47 AM

Scripture is exceptionally clear that while men and women are the same in terms of worth and as image bearers, they are also different in function, role, and responsibility. Do you disagree? If you apply linguistic judo to get around those areas in the NT, recognize that the same linguistic judo is applied by others to other areas of Scripture in manners you probably vehemently disagree with.

Stuff like frame, STFU, etc. are non negotiable. Other stuff is more context dependent. If you are getting laid like tile, are happy, and have no desire to game, then do your own life and don’t game. You do you.

Best thing I've found for deads is deficit lifting. Train for a while pulling from a slight height like a 45# plate and the floor feels easy.

Excellent post. For guys new to this, the portion about not begging is perhaps the most important. This is something you don't ask or beg for. You simply tell and then it's her choice to participate or not. If she doesn't participate, then drop it and try again at a later time. Begging / asking is the epitome of weakness and lack of frame / abundance mentality.

I read this a couple of times and I don't like this post because it's too damned simple. So is "just go to the gym." So is "stop chugging sodas all day." So is "just go ask for her number already." So is "STFU when she nags." Sometimes, hard problems are solved by simple solutions that just aren't fun but you do them anyway. Good post.

Did you really just say "who fucking cares if your wife can control your emotions?" Damn dude. Think before you type. It's important for new guys to understand this so I'll spell it out. Control of your emotions is binary. It's 1 or 0. Either you have it or you don't. If you have it, then your wife doesn't. If your wife has it, then you don't. Most guys who walk in here have zero control of their emotions. They are manipulated and pushed around by their wives who use their husbands' overreac…

Agreed. The challenge most guys have when they come to MRP is that the #1 adversary in their life is their wife. They have ceded control of their happiness and their emotions to their spouse which is why they are fucking miserable. They are enslaved.

I've turned off the radio and drive in silence or while listening to a good audiobook. I'm in sales and am on the road a fair amount so that's my time to self-reflect and think about what I want to improve upon. I can't really think about other stuff when I'm lifting. That's my time to crank the music and just focus on crushing each lift.

Dude, 100%. But the key is here that you were in control all the time and you were playing her emotions like a piano for a bit of good fun. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about her messing with you in a negative way until you explode in anger or frustration. To me, that’s not drama. That’s just the dude being a bitch.
/r/MarriedRedPill01/03/19 02:36 PM

For me, point 2 was useful because it helped me identify the root causes of frustration or whatever emotion I had. Starfish sex pissed me off because I was letting it make me feel like less of a man. In other words, once I recognized that others’ reactions had more to do with them than me, I was able to control my responses much better.

Frame and emotions are definitely connected. I could do a similar but different post about how you can't have frame unless you control master your emotions to the point no one else can reasonably affect your emotional state. Otherwise you are pulled immediately into the person's frame who triggered your anger, self-doubt, misery, whatever. You have to master your emotions and control them, not the other way around. Or someone else will use them against you, hence my comments on the common scenar…

I believe it will have severe long term consequences for our society. Let’s look at the political spectrum for an analogous experience. Trump and the rise of many other populist movements across the world can be seen as a direct rejection or counter swing effort from the postmodern progressive movements which have been growing exponentially since the 70s. These movements often feel distanced from “regular” citizens who often don’t have the same types of immediate goals and urgencies. A liberal f…

Men’s testosterone levels are plummeting dramatically versus historical standards. Test is a primary driver of many things, some good and some not. However, historically attractive measures such as musculature, status, confidence, etc. are all tied significantly to test. Maintain frame, set the example, point your woman to the squat rack, and thank yourself later. Or send her to Crossfit. Those bitches are hnnnggggg. That's a fair point and I don't think you are wrong. The post was directed at guys who happen to want the woman they are with and have found that the more passive aspects / types of dread aren't working as well because her focus is on the little kids. If that's the case, sometimes you have to up the pressure a bit. If you don't want to, then you do you.

I talk too much. I was raised by a single mom who conditioned me to overcommunicate via what was effectively emotional manipulation. What's funny is I'm married to a woman who is pretty evenly balanced on the emotional spectrum and really isn't much into communication like that. Regardless, I'm a grown ass man and need to own my shit in this area more consistently.

Here are some general thoughts in no particular order that I would tell me if I were starting again in the gym. I'll address you specifically at the end re tennis elbow, etc. Pacing It's a marathon, not a sprint. You want to be the guy who is still lifting in 15 years, not the guy who was the strongest for a couple and then busted his knee / back / neck / shoulder. Take it slow, focus on perfect form every rep of every set of every day, and don't worry too much about 'progress.' It will come. …

Are you on gear? The other lifts are decent to good but the OHP is fucking nuts if it is strict with no leg drive. I personally have no problem with gear and may do it in the future so I’m pretty curious.

This. This. This. Get your testosterone checked because you come across like the weakest and most pitiful of female stereotypes. Hillary Clinton would be a gigantic upgrade for you in terms of manliness. I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm completely serious. You need help much more than what we can give you. My first guess is that this is at least partly hormonal.

“Your deposits in the bank are worthless” is nearly as good of advice as “you are the prize” for newbs. Jack10 did the full gambit but that’s such a good topic it could be revisited by itself again and again.

Change your scheme. If you have been doing 3/10 for for than 6 weeks, incremental gains are basically down to nothing. Do a mesocycle or two of 6/4 or 4/12 or one of each and then try the 3/10 again. Alternatively, for me, 20 rep squats 3x per week helped my bench more than anything. Loaded leaning dips helped too if your shoulder can stand the ROM.

I had an ortho who was a powerlifter who said to do 2x the set of ‘back / supporting’ muscles as you do sets of pushing / pressing muscles.

For bench set up: First, pick the widest bench in the room if your gym is like mine where you have to slide a mobile bench into a squat rack to bench. 2in can be a big difference here. Girth over length but I digress. Second, warm up just a bit. I bench in the mid 3s and always start with just the bar. Focus on explosive yet controlled movements. Third, your positioning is key. It should UNCOMFORTABLE. Get under the bar and roll your shoulders back and down like you are bowing your chest up. The…

You only get angry at things that really matter to you. If you can get enraged by what she says or does, that means that she can control you with it and automatically decreases your ability to control your surroundings in her eyes. Women want a man in control. They want a man so in control that even they can’t truly affect the situation because it means: - the man is responsible for what happens and she isn’t. - the man can provide for her and protect her - the man is high SMV to the extent his …

Yep. As I think about these more and more, I understand why Jack10 wrote responses that were so damn long. Same with Pook. It seems to me like subjects frequently morph from crystal clear to murky and back as I learn more and more. What's that Bruce Lee line about a punch being just a punch and a kick being just a kick? This seems to be a bit like that.

The ECs are giving me some shit because I did a terrible, shitty, no-good job of prefacing my post with the proper safeguards against noobs reading it without the context of an internalization of the sidebar. That's true. It isn't apparent from my post that the man is the prize, he has to run his mission / vision for himself first and foremost, etc. All of those are true and need to be fully accepted and realized before a guy moves on to anything else in terms of RP development. The actions ment…

To be fair, I did a shitty job in OP of emphasizing the importance of the basic RP truth that this is for you only and you, as a quality man, are the prize. Of course, some guys internalize that before they lift, own their shit, and game well so they just become arrogant losers but that’s another post. Other guys have a shitty woman and try to fix her. That’s not what this post is about either. I’m not denying that there are some beta aspects to what I’m talking about. But MRP recognizes that th…

Fair point about the man being the prize. I didn’t emphasize that because that, to me, is the number one and most basic point of RP. And to me, this post was more about explaining how some guys can implement the basic truths, make changes in themselves, internalize the sidebar, etc. and still not see the changes they want. I definitely could have worked in the man = prize notion but the post was getting long enough as it was. Regarding the shitty dad thing, imho a man owes it to himself and his …

When I say the game is played differently, I mean in the sense of a run-heavy offense versus a pass-heavy offense to use a football analogy. It is the exact same game but some tools are more effective in certain situations than other. None of this is song and dance. It’s all for you. You should be having the adventure for you, not her. It should be your mission, your fun, your life. I’m just saying that women with little kids sometimes aren’t as aware of RP changes because so much of their focus…

The point of the post is that for guys with little kids, you can’t expect a wife chasing a 2 year to respond exactly like a wife with no kids. The game is played differently but the results can still be enjoyable. The husband needs to be the generator of a kickass mission and adventure. He has to lead with vision and influence. I think it can go both ways. The key is to recognize that while you can have the kind of sex life you really want, it may or may not be with your current wife. If it is, then awesome. If it isn't, then you have some choices to make. My wife did stuff last week to me (and last night) that I thought was off the table after years of trying as a fat beta. There is a massive spectrum of thought in Christianity and you can find people across that range. High quality women exist, even in an RP paradigm. They are very rare, true, but so are high quality men. Marriage is trickier than ever and yes, the vast majority of the time, the man comes out the loser in the modern setup due to society as a whole, courts, etc. However, just because it works out that way most of the time doesn't mean it works out that way every time.

Are those weights your maxes or what do you 5 reps with? Why is your squat so low compared to your BP? Most of the time, a guy with a high BP and a low squat is afraid of hard work. “Injured knees” or “I leg press dude” or some weak shit like that. Two quick things though there’s about 15 that could be brought up. Think of change in a relationship like a long rope pulling a weight. Here are a few thoughts / points. A. What bodyfat % are you? Personally, I think “look good naked” is better advice than “lift” because it’s more holistic. Women care less about how much you actually lift versus how good your shoulders and abs look when you take your shirt off. So, if you are lifting but your diet sucks and you still have a Dad bod, fix that ASAP. Check out intermittent fasting or leangains or something. This doesn’t mean don’t lift. Manufactured drama and feelz. I would go with amused mastery on this and address it like she is the naughty 18 year old that got caught doing something “bad” so now you are going to have to “punish” her. This probably takes the form of a bit of rough sex with some light paddling. Bring it up though after some heavy kino / getting her worked up so she goes along with it. That keeps you in control, sets the tone, keeps it fun, and gets you laid. If the shit continues, then you can escalate.

You sound autistic so I’ll keep it simple. You have three choices and you should mix them up to keep her off guard. Agree and Amplify (with a smile): Yeah, I’m a giant asshole. Sorry but you picked me like that! STFU: say nothing and ignore her comment. Keep the conversation about other stuff like what’s for dinner or just don’t talk to her at all. There is a lot to unpack here but I’ll start with this... she is currently deciding when and how you should spend your time. That’s a sign of how BP you have been. If she nags you again, your thought process needs to be something along the lines of “we are on the same page re selling the house but she is pushing faster than I want re cleaning it up, etc. I’ve got work to do now.” That all applies M-F 9-5 or whatever your hours are. However, if you sit around and play video games all weekend, the…

If you are gonna respond on AMRP, at least aim for reading comprehension or to be remotely helpful. I’m 5 weeks post knee surgery today. My 1RM squat 2 weeks pre surgery was 475. DL was 455. I’m still lifting legs but my prior maxes are pointless to mention now because doc has restricted squatting and DLs until mid summer and I’ll probably be starting back at 2 plates. Now, if you have any advice that’s worth more than a warm bucket of piss, I’m all ears... faggot.

My prior squat and DL maxes are no longer relevant bc I’m five weeks post knee surgery. I do plenty of leg work in addition to PT such as RDL and split squats. Maybe I can make a giant covert contract with my wife that says she will go from 95% to 100% once I’m squatting heavy again.

Her hormones are making her certifiably crazy. Don't listen to a word she says. Instead, own your shit and plan on the next 6-12 months as being "awww, it's cute you feel that way" time. If she gets better, she'll probably deny she ever said anything like that. If she otherwise adds value to your life and you nuke her over this, you are a fool.

My anger isn't helpful at all. It's a whiny bitch worrying about sunk costs. From an objective standpoint, I'm damn near Denzel Washington in Training Day... King Kong ain't got shit on me. That's what is frustrating about the anger portion because it is getting in the way of the Mission. It's harder to move forward with a level head and do the shit I need to do when I'm extremely pissed off over shit that happened a long time ago.

You can clearly see 3 plates at the start of the video and the end. You can also see it’s 3 plates at 54 seconds by looking at the light reflections on the upper right interior side. As for your 1RM, they very well could be higher. Mine aren’t great.
/r/TheRedPill24/04/18 05:29 PM

Are you slow? You can see how many plates it is by the reflections on the interior holes, especially around the 57 second mark. The side angle is done to check depth... which you would know if you knew anything about squatting. And if you knew anything about strength formulas, you would know they are garbage on anything over 8-10 reps. Strength doesn’t scale linearly like that. Besides, my 1RM at the time wasn’t 410... it was closer to 475. That’s not exactly impressive. There are hundreds of gu…

Your “research” is laughable not because your cited sources are poor but rather that you completely ignore the equally valid points / risks presented by competing positions such as the difficulties of false rape charges, inadequacies in custody arrangements, financial burdens on men, etc. You act like infertility is “devastating” to women but ignore that it is equally devastating to men (or at least the difference is not quantifiable). Agree with your sentiment 100%. For me, I measure quality according to the value it provides. I wouldn't say "that's a quality jackhammer" because I don't need or ever use jackhammers. However, I do say "that's a quality olympic bar" because I use those all the time. So to me, quality is exactly a reference to "the degree to which it adds value to me on a meaningful basis." Good clarification though in case someone else is using the word differently.

27% at 160lbs means you have an incredibly small amount of muscle. Be very careful to not impact her negatively for a good while (8+ weeks) with your new activities except for in ways that are net positive. The keys to managing your wife's observations of "you are butthurt" are three things: 1) time, 2) having a legitimate alternate activity, and 3) frame. You can come up with the second on the spot but #1 and #3 will take a while, as in at least a few months. You need time because even if you execute perfectly on frame and an alternate…

What is your age / height / BF%? As you get leaner, you'll need to do something more accurate than the visual test to determine if you are gaining or losing fat such as DEXA, hydrostatic, pod, etc. testing. Regardless, if you gain strength while losing weight and generally appear just as asthetic, that's not usually a bad thing. How are your energy levels? TBP deliberately picks the worst of TRP and then implicitly makes the argument the argument that all of TRP is inherently bad. Furthermore, TBP is a perfect example of what could be coined toxic femininity... or those habits or actions typically associated with females which are usually negative. It’s a gossipy and catty clique based on cutting people down from afar without actually getting their own hands dirty. If toxic masculinity exists, then the reverse does as well and TBP is a perfect exa…

Newbies should not start on a body building routine and most lifting posts here are aimed at newbies. Newbies can get amazing hypertrophy and strength gains from the basic compound lifts and get the hormonal benefits as well. If someone has put 3-5 years under the bar and knows what they want, sure they can ditch the basic lifts and focus purely on aesthetics. Finally and perhaps most importantly, I’m convinced that a newbie learning to squat and dead properly will do wonders for his confidence …

Exactly. Society labels certain male behaviors as toxic masculinity and expressly tells young boys NOT to engage in such behaviors. However, since society is essentially gynocentric at this point, it lacks the self awareness to recognize similar issues with certain female-common behaviors.

It’s not a “decision” any more than a man “decided” if he is attracted to a woman. The easiest example is a guy at a bar who sits next to a woman. He starts chatting with her. Her perception of his creepiness level is going to be significantly (though certainly not totally) influenced by how attractive he is. That’s just basic.

metoo was not built just on legally-considered sexual harassment. Edit: here is what I mean... #metoo was built on the common and socially-shared experience of being made to feel sexually harassed. That feeling though is often predicated on the attractiveness of the man. If it is high enough then most behavior on the spectrum of sexual advances will be welcomed in most circumstances to at least some degree. If that is attraction level is low enough, then most behavior on the same spectrum will c…

Jack10 had a great post one time that addresses this. Your point is misguided because TRP doesn’t refer to assholes as much as it refers to confidence in terms of generating female desire. The difference is that naturally confident men do not generally pay attention to what modern feminist society tells them to be (sweet, sensitive, kind, etc.) and as such they can come across as assholes. That lies in direct contradiction to less confident men who are more easily swayed and thus listen to the D…

Yes, there are examples of good looking dudes who are shitheads and push things way too far. I can find the exact numbers but my weight went up a few lbs but according to the hydrostatic testing machine I have access to, I went down 2.5%. I’m still just over 15% BF and am only a year back into weightlifting after taking my 20s off. So some of this won’t be duplicated exactly by a guy running around all year at 8-9% and who has been consistent on lifting for 3+ years. Hypergamy has nothing to do with patriarchy any more than men being stronger physically than women is due to patriarchy. All three subjects - hypergamy, patriarchy, and strength differences - flow from evolutionary or biological differences. Honestly I don’t understand the science on a molecular level. My guess is the flood of nutrients via blood pump, significant tearing of micro fibers in the muscle, and high levels of protein intake all combine to have a strong effect. Plus I’m guessing that the stress- and it is a significant stress- on your CNS generates a strong hormonal adaptation need.

There is a difference between competence and independence. I want a woman who is competent enough to handle the shit that we decide she should handle. I do not want a woman that is so "independent" that it is a constant source of conflict as to division of labor.

What the other guy said re supplements is good. I’m also a fan of the thicker (7mm) knee sleeves. They help w compression and keeping the area warm. Finally, it sounds counterintuitive but you may need to squat deeper. Stopping your squat just above parallel puts much more strain on your knees than ass to grass due to patellar shear forces. So I would try starting lighter and going well past parallel and see how that treats your knees.

Listen to his interview on the Art of Manliness podcast. The guy’s name is Jesse Meacham. He explains the philosophy of the budget which boils down to: figure out your priorities and then give every dollar a job based on those priorities. It’s a zero sum budget but super flexible. You will screw it up a bunch at first but that’s fine... roll with it and improve.

Yeah... I'll need at least a year (probably a few more) before I'm doing 20x 405 "non-stop." These aren't "non-stop" squats. This is 'you don't rack the bar until you are done.' For me, it generally looked like "sets" of 6, 5, 3, 3, 1,1,1 with several big breaths in between the "sets." The sets were non-stop except for a re-brace breath at the top each time. I'll check out nSuns... haven't seen it before.

Before I started this, I read a bunch of articles about the 20 rep squat program. Very few mentioned doing it for other lifts and those that did seemed to say it wasn't a good idea. That much volume could be relatively harder on the shoulder / elbow joints but I'm not a doctor so I don't know. What I do know is that my upper body lifts responded well to this program just because of the hormonal changes from the 20s. Also, if you haven't, add in real dips and high volume (at least 5x10) heavy DB …

About 10-11 months later is when I started the program and my squat then was 410ish. And yeah, burpees suck balls so I’m sure you can do more than me.

First, my wife had a very low n count. Christian background, conservative, submissive, etc. Second, she adds a high amount of value to my life (cooks, cleans, makes decent money on side, excellent mother, responds to me when I Captain). Third, she is smoking hot. These are all important to me. That said, I’m not satisfied. Being satisfied is a great way to slip into being beta like I did for 8ish years. Are you fat? Look in the mirror and ask if you would fuck you. If you wouldn’t, then keep lifting and eating clean and don’t worry about your wife. If you have made big improvements and are much higher SMV than your wife, give it time. It looks like you are 4 months in or so. Give it at least 1 month per shitty year of relationship. Ignore her. Second question first: Navy method says 16%. I was measured using a hydrostatic dunk tank 2 weeks ago at 19.8%. Regarding my issues with frame, I've never learned to properly control my emotions. Second comment in favor of 531. It's built around the concept that slow, steady progress is fundamentally safer and more sustainable than "add 50lbs to your bench in 3.4 hours!!!1!!" type-programs. It's also very, very flexible. You can add mass and get stronger while training with submaximal weights.

I'm not an expert but losing weight first when starting at 149 (5'9) when you can't even squat your body weight seems backwards. If I were you, I'd focus on maintaining your current weight (or even gaining 1-2 pounds every few weeks) while lifting as heavy as possible and slamming the protein. Your BF% will even out quickly because the increase in muscle will offset the increase in bodyweight. Plus, you will look much better, feel much better, and run a much lower risk of destroying your hormona…

Belly fat almost always causes low T. Furthermore, be careful when you get your results back not to just take the doc's response of "within normal ranges." The range on the labs is for men age 18 to 75. Docs usually don't differentiate between where in that range you fall so you might have the T levels of an average healthy 70 year old and still be told you are "normal." Do your homework / research ahead of time. Common symptoms are low libido, lack of focus, lack of will, lack of energy, lack o…

GET YOUR TESTOSTERONE CHECKED. Now that I've said that, do some fucking research as to what normal levels are for your age. The problem with a regular doctor is that they will run a blood test for you and tell you that you are "normal" even if your T is on the lowest end of the spectrum. The test results measure your T against a range that isn't divided up by age or health. In other words, you might have T levels comparable to a healthy 75 year old man and yet the doc likely won't even blink. To…

Here's the deal. Even the very best of wives don't want to see their men as weak. Society has sold a bill of false goods by 'teaching' men that women want guys who are 'sensitive' and 'open' to them. That's only partially true. Women want assertive, confident guys who occasionally reveal their tender side in about a 90% alpha / 10% beta ratio. It's quite simple. There is utility in even the murder of serial killers thus it can be entertained. That's the line that is crossed. What makes rape / child abuse, etc. a closed-handed issue is that there is nothing redeemable, zero utility, no offsetting virtue (pick whatever you want) to balance the wrongness of it.

Compound lifts are king for generating the hormonal responses you need. As such, you need to be doing the big 4 as much as possible: Squat, Deadlift, Bench, OHP. Given your situation with your knee, I would recommend focusing on rehabbing that as soon as and as quickly as possible. Until then, do whatever you can using as many muscles per exercise as possible. With respect to machines v dumbbells, dumbbells are almost always better for the same movements. A bicep curl machine won't generate as m…

STFU is a tool. It is not the be-all-end-all of being a quality man. It has its uses but there are times when clear communication, boundaries, etc. are needed and it's hard to do that when you STFU. That being said, you seem from your comments like you are a bit of an arrogant asshole. That's ok. I'm an arrogant asshole too so I know that when you are being a dick, it's not really your fault, you just have a character defect. Ok, so it is your fault. You need to read Extreme Ownership (Amazon Pr…

OP, please listen to everyone else here. You need help. Your wife needs help. You can't help your wife. You can't help your wife. You can't help your wife. Right now you are hurting your wife because you are enabling her. You are enabling your wife. You are enabling your wife. You are hurting your wife. You are the exact same as the guy that feeds his 700# wife all the food she wants when she can't even get out of bed "because it makes her happy and I love her." You are standing in the way of he…

You have ZERO obligation to support her. You have 100% obligation to support your child. Man the fuck up and recognize that you don't owe her anything like foot rubs, time with her, rubbing her belly, affirming her, etc. You owe your child a stable home, food on the table, clothes on the back, and a father he/she can look up to and respect. Your ex is holding you at a distance and extracting all things of value from you while OVERTLY refusing to add value back. And this is when she "needs" you. …

Bench, deadlift, single leg dead lifts, overhead press, pull-ups, good mornings, GHD sit-ups, and thousands of dumbbell exercises. Quit making excuses and find a way to get it done. You will thank yourself later.

I have thought a lot about my interaction with the Mommy aspect of my relationship with my wife and have some ideas percolating around in my brain. I've got some of it written down and may post it later. The long and the short of it is that I was raised by a single mom who trained me that expressing feelings is the single most important thing in a 'healthy' relationship.

A mixture of the two. I was stoic at points and whiny at points. Here's a corny way of putting it: I'm 99% sure John Wayne would not have handled his back getting tweaked the same way I did in terms of commentary to his wife.

I'm pretty sure that in 40-50 years, people will look back on how much sugar we eat the same way we look back at how leeches were used for medicine 200 years ago.

As a result of my efforts to increase T levels, I've noticed more pimples popping up on my face. Coconut oil seems to fight those very well and prevent also. I've also been using it under my eyes to combat dark circles and lines. Finally, I think it gives me a more "alive" look as long as I don't lather it on and get it greasy. Plus it is an awesome lube so it's multifunctional. ;)

4/19/17 OYS. This is all done on a A-F grading. Lifting D. I didn’t get any lifting in this past week because a) I was letting my tweaked back recover and b) I took the family on a surprise vacation to go hiking and shit for several days. No gym access at all. I did go back to the gym this morning. Diet A. Probably the best week I’ve had in years. Very, very clean with an exception for my middle son’s birthday party in which my wife made peach cobbler for dessert (my favorite… my birthday son al…

I'm tackling hygiene on three fronts: Smell I go to an old-school men's barbershop (for the love of all that's holy, if you go to a SuperCheapFastCuts, STOP!) and have started buying their products. I found a scent I like which is a combination of wood, whiskey, and tobacco (very smooth). I am now using the related products for shampoo, cologne, and aftershave with a non-scented underarm deodorant. Good responses thus far from people with vaginas. Clothes I had a tendency to dress sharply for wo…

My FIL is an attorney who has dabbled in this (Texas so your mileage may vary in other states) but basically his interpretation of the law and his experience was that there were more barriers to a married father being denied his children than an unmarried father. That does come with the potential for drawbacks obviously (child support, divorce rape, etc.).

I was a bartender in college. There were two types of bartenders (ok, that's quite the generalization but whatevs). There was the Boss and the Bitch. The Boss bartenders were the guys or girls who owned their shit, took pride making awesome drinks, made sure everyone was having a great time, and stayed cool / made jokes even when everything was going bonkers and we ran out of ABC liquor and XYZ beer. Everyone loved the Boss. They tended to have a bunch of regulars and made bank. The Bitch was fl…

Different people will have different answers. For me, there are two aspects: religious / spiritual and then secular. The religious component for me is that I truly believe that my wife is a support and help to me in our faith walk together. I'll leave it at that but if you want to know more, feel free to ask. The secular aspect is more quantifiable. Where I live (US of A), there are tremendous benefits to being married versus a LTR. These involve taxes, rights to your children, retirement planni…

4/11/17 OYS. This is all done on a A-F grading. Lifting B+. I hit the gym hard last week and did well. I tweaked my back midweek (had already gotten four workouts in) so I took the rest of the week easy. Did chest yesterday. Diet A-. I’ve been substituting protein shakes for candy and it’s causing a huge improvement in my mood and energy levels. I need to be more consistent on tracking my macros but when I do, I come very close to 40% fat /40% protein / 20% carb. Frame D. As I learn more about f…

This doesn't make sense. You make seven figures per year which according to my complex math is $1,000,000+. She cheating on you for years and you still kept her. Why? Why not divorce her ass and move on? Blank slate it red-pill style with a HB8+ who will not have the baggage of knowing pussy-you for 8+ years.

That's a great, broad question that minds much smarter than mine have spent generations thinking about. But I'm an arrogant asshole so I'll still give it a shot. A man sees the world for what it is, changes everything in his power to the betterment of himself and his people, and then stands stoically against what he cannot change, unbowed and unbroken.

Great post. As a dude new to this, I'm focused on two things only right now: a) becoming a better man in any way I can and b) specifically / actively focusing on practicing outcome independence. I've got a shitton of work ahead of me but I'm already seeing significant results at work, in the gym, and at home. If I can emphasize anything to any new readers here, it's this. Your problem isn't the lack of sex, her nagging, her disrespect, etc. Your problem is YOU. Read the sidebar, focus on you, re…

Masculinity is less about what you do and more about how you do it. There are plenty of alpha-as-fuck chefs who run a kitchen like a badass lord of hell... yet they are just 'cooking.' Keeping an orderly house, making sure the chores are caught up, etc. all of this can be as alpha or beta as you make it. Take ownership of it, do it to the best of your ability, AND DON'T LOOK FOR HER TO VALIDATE IT. The difference between alpha and beta here is whether you get your validation from "fuck yeah, I o…

What's with all the dumbbells? Dumbbells are fine for accessory work but you need to do compound movements with heavy ass barbells as the core of your program. There are several programs you can choose from. Some of the best for a beginner are: Stronglifts 5x5, 5/3/1, & Starting Strength. I'm a fan of 5/3/1 myself. If you don't have access to a squat rack / barbell set, go to a gym that does. If you have zero gyms around you, save up the cash to get a squat rack & barbell set. It is worth it. He…

"This MRP stuff" can't fix your wife. Only she can fix herself. You can't fix her. You can't fix her. You can't fix her. Your frustration right now partly stems from misplaced expectations. MRP focuses on fixing you. Once you are fixed, the rest will fall into place either with her or without her. Evidence from plenty of guys here shows that once you are fixed, she is likely to jump on board but she might not. However, if she doesn't and you are fixed, you will be in a much stronger position to …

Hybrid Training Continue to focus on Crossfit 3-4x per week and add in 2+ sessions of cardio work such as rowing, hill sprints, etc. I'm doing a Spartan Super in May and need to increase endurance. Recovery Foam roll 4x per week with a focus on lower back and hamstrings.

Neither of those men were praised for that behavior. Plus that was OT. The nice thing about Scripture is that it is full of flawed people who make bad decisions but can still be redeemed.

Up vote for Extreme Ownership. It is an amazingly simple take on the 'revolutionary' idea that we are all captains of our own fates and we need to own our own shit. The TLDR would be '99% of the problems in your life are your fault - man up and fix them.' However, it's such a good book that I recommend skipping the TLDR and just reading it!

This is all done on a 1-5 scale with 1 being worst, 5 best. This is my first OYS. Lifting Four - I’ve been hitting the gym hard both on heavy lifts and HITT. Grinding away. Got 175# x2 on my Clean & Jerk and it felt pretty easy. I would guess my 1RM is 215ish. That should continue to go up. Diet Three - I’ve been eating clean, just too much. I’m not dropping #s quickly enough (2# in 3-4 weeks only) which means I need to stop being a bitch, take responsibility, and log all my food. Eating too muc…

What brought all this up? Why are you just now finding out about this guy? Have you met him? Ignore what she says about him and make your own assessment / comparison of you v him. Then base your decision on the two points of: 1) can I deliver so much to her that she 'forgets' him and 2) is she worth the effort of #1. EDIT: I don't mean "deliver so much" in a beta sense. I mean are you confident enough that your SMV is high enough and you have her craving you enough that she won't get stuck focus…

That's exactly what I did. Started off the marriage in great shape (mentally and physically) and then slowly transitioned over a decade+ to a fat beta. It's not exactly shocking that my wife would show less and less interest in me. Well, this place has been a jolt of icy water mixed with a kick to my ass. I have a LONG way to go but at least my eyes are opened a bit now.

Christian here. Very new to RP but I've been giving this an enormous amount of thought over the past few weeks. Here's where I'm at right now. I highly encourage any Christians here to read AoM's series on the feminizing of western Christianity. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2016/08/22/the-feminization-of-christianity/ The western Church is caught in a negative feedback cycle in which most of the attendees are women so they cater to wom…

I had mine measured about 90 days ago. Same symptoms as you. I also had almost zero morning wood, libido that was getting lower and lower, and was not confident / in control of my emotions. I went to get it tested and it was very low, as in lower than the average for 60-70 yo men... I'm 32. Yikes. Doc said this was because I had put on a ton of belly weight, my diet was trashy, I was sedentary, I slept poorly, and I didn't manage my stress levels proactively.
