Let me go against the grain (again) and suggest that this depends on the competency of your First Officer. If mine asked a question like that you can be sure I would need to be ready with a defense.

Is it a shit test? Yep! Do you have your shit together? What DID you buy and why was the uhaul so expensive?

If it is not important then you can probably safely ignore. Except like I say, mine would produce a half dozen examples of u-hauls that would have worked better for less (and get really pissed) if I tried to ignore her. Of course she would be unlikely to meander and nitpick over minor or inconsequential details either so there is that.

I don't get the problem. Just tell the truth. * I got the TPS fixed... * I don't know why the Uhauls are so much, if you can find us a better deal that would be great.

I'd guarantee my wife would stop dead in her tracks in the face of renting the UHaul. But if she did find a better deal, good for her.

You can take it from there. What is of interest here is why she now cares. It could turn out to be a productive conversation.

It's totally a shit test. She doesn't trust you to make good financial decisions. Good call ignoring the texts. Ignore with great prejudice. Neither of those things is worth interrupting your work day over.

If/when she confronts you about it in person, use normal anti shit test tactics like A&A etc. Or just fucking make fun of her questions.

On a deeper level, here's a question. Are you owning this shit? The finances? Is there any shred of possibility that she is picking up a "drunk captain" vibe from you? I'm not saying there is, but if you think there might be, then watch out. She WANTS you to give the amused, assertive answers that we are suggesting in here, but if you are giving those answers to cover up some seriously fucked up financial situation, you are possibly digging the hole deeper. If you are owning it, and you've got some spare cash, maybe take a leaf from /u/IanIronwood s alpha moves and splash some of that cash on her. Maybe even literally as he describes in one of the sections. (he brings home a wad of cash and uses it like a beta dude would use rose petals in the bedroom).

If you are on this journey for the last seven months, I'm assuming you can recognise and handle such obvious shit tests as these,so that's why I'm curious if there is anything else going on.
