I'm[26] an occasional TRP reader who is getting his life back in order after getting laid off from a work after 2 and a half years with the company and I'm having issues with my girlfriend[20]. She wants sex ALL the time and frankly, I don't. I'm fine with 2-3 times a week, but more than that and I'm not really interested. We love each other, though we've been having some issues for a bit over 2 months now. She takes my disinterest in sex all the time as insulting her worth as a woman and partner, when its a combination of things increasing my stress and lowering my libido (depression). Have any advice on what I can do?
Its hard to break down a relationship into words, but here's a summary of what I think the most important information is (in no particular order)
-
Money is EXTREMELY tight (She just started a low wage part-time job, I got laid off with 26 other people from a small office leaving just 14 people left, I'm looking for a replacement, and should be getting unemployment benefits soon.)
-
We live together
-
We both love each other and neither of us want to break up (again)
-
We broke up for 2 days a few weeks ago and in those 2 days she slept with a married (polyamorous) friend of mine and one of her exes (separately, not together). The polyamorous friend has always been extremely flirty, they were both really drunk, and she has regretted both instances since (they made her feel wanted, unlike me apparently). We've messed around with each other once in the past as 2 couples but my gf wasn't really into it and said she didn't want to do it again, with anybody not just them.
-
She begged me to take her back (I technically was the one to end it, but she constantly argued about things for the prior 2 days and I just didn't want to deal with it on top of the things I was already dealing with). I still haven't forgiven her and don't yet know if I really truly can.
-
She feels I don't show her enough affection, which has slightly decreased (though my effort has increased) since the short-term breakup because every time I look at her I am reminded about how she hurt me by sleeping with them. Hell, if I wasn't angry with her at the time I probably would have been fine joining them for a threesome, but she said she really only wanted me but couldn't have me.
-
She says I'm the best in bed that she's ever had. I believe her; multiple ex-gfs have said the same thing. Not trying to brag but I think its important to know what you're doing and do it well.
-
She doesn't want to explore and try new things in bed. I'm kind of bored and feel like it isn't always worth the effort. I've always been hard to get off, but kinky things get me going.
Is it salvageable? Is it WORTH salvaging? We do rely on each other right now due to tough financial times. Is it wrong that I've been thinking about continuing things short term until we are both in better positions and then seeing if its really something I want to continue with? I'm not really interested in dating anybody else, nor is my life really in a spot to do so (working on getting things back in order). If you have any questions or want more information, just ask. I appreciate all advice and constructive criticism.

Edit2: More information from a comment that should be in the OP:
I can definitely see how I'm hamstering in terms of wanting to stay with her partially because its easier than being apart while still living together. Before I "took her back" (still really up in the air, but we are amicable [and exclusive] for the time being and still fuck when I want to) she wanted to at least still be friends. I fucked up a number of months ago and had my license taken away so I can't drive for a year (long and irrelevant story, no I wasn't driving drunk), so she would be my only reliable transportation on any sort of daily basis. I'm going to sell my car for funds and to get alternate transportation options. She would probably still help with transportation if we broke up but remained friends, but I question the reliability which is incredibly important while trying to find a decent job.
I suppose what it ultimately comes down to is if I'm ok being in a relationship for the wrong reasons and relying on each other because its better than the alternative. If our situation was different, I wouldn't have taken her back, even though I do love her. I'm fighting with myself about doing what I probably consider the "right thing" and staying broken up or using her to springboard our lives -not just mine- back into order. It could possibly work out long term (for the right reasons), but I honestly believe that chance is small.
