See if you can get into car sales. Youll either suck and get fired in a month or two, or you'll be average and make $5-7k a month, or you'll be great and make $10k a month. I was great AND worked insane hours and used to make $18k a month at a small store and $24k at a very busy metro store, selling Audis. You probably wont be able to get into a highline store right away, but its worth a shot. Worst case scenario, find the least sleezy looking regular new car dealership you can, and get a job. Work your ass off. Watch a lot of sales training videos. It can be done.

Well my friend, consider teaching English in China (when it opens borders) or South Korea. Or anywhere in Asia if you have a teaching license.

I don’t have a teaching license and it’s my third year. I make over $100,000 a year with private lessons (7 days a week work) and foreigners drown in Asian women - seriously even beta fucking losers can snag beautiful Asian women way out of their league.

Honestly a life hack if you do it right / can handle the culture differences.

If you want a guaranteed increase of your income you need to get a skill. It sounds like you're already on that path with welding, which is great.

If welding falls through a field I'd recommend is programming. What do you need to get into it? A computer, willpower, and a few hours of freetime a day.

Learn a in-demand programming language or a stack of languages and if you commit just 2-3 hours a day to learning you could be employable within two years, or just a year if you're consistent with your studying. 500k programming jobs went un-filled in the US in 2019. Average starting pay for a computer programmer in the US is 68k/yr.

Just something to think about.

Go all out on ways to increase you wage, increase your value, the rest are excuses.

Nobody can give you a straight answer, you have to figure out yourself.

What can you do now, to increase your wage by $1 or any attainable amount in the shortest time? Do that.

You are never notice because you did not show the value needed for the job which is very different than the value you perceived you have, i.e. I don't need a workaholic as my storekeeper, I need someone who can move things and makes me feels good too.

Go sign up for a cdl company, drive over the road for 2 years and have 100k in the bank at the end. Then you can get a local job paying $25/hr and home every night.

It’s complete shit though but can give you some breathing room financially.

Do you have any health conditions, lots of debt, or criminal background?

If not, you should seriously consider joining the military. If you get in as an officer, which is an option with your degree, you can start making serious money in a few years.

Don’t just take my word on that either, look it up yourself. There’s three components to your pay: base pay, you’d be looking at the O grades so O1, O2, etc. Then BAS which is a fixed amount for food, and BAH which is a housing allowance and it varies based on the area.

Do 20 years and you can retire at 54 with half of your base pay every month for the rest of your life.

The lifestyle is not for everyone, but I think it’s the option most likely to let you retire before you’re 65. You lose a lot of freedom, but gain a lot of stability and security. And at your age, a stable and relatively high income is what you need.

There are 3 broad industries that will put you near money: finance, insurance, and real estate.

Get into one of these industries, and push.

I would encourage you to get into finance. The barrier to entry is not high to become a financial advisor at a bank. You'll learn a lot, become good at it. Build your list of clients, and you can use that list to setup something of your own to advise people.

You can also start as a bank teller, and move up. The idea is to develop that thirst for knowledge about everything money-related, and work in, or close to fields that handle, or manage money, and wealth. In turn, this should improve your finances.

Also, think about something you can continue to do over an extended period of time, perhaps the next 20-30 odd years.

I'm working on getting welding certs

It is not my place to discourage you from doing anything. It's your life, and you should do what you want to do.

However, given your age, I would suggest not getting into manual labor. Physically, things don't get better over time, and in the long-term this may not be a good choice. Your time would be better invested moving into some type of white collar job.

Again, it's your call.

I'd say cancel your Florida dream for now and concentrate on the welding certs. Yeah it may take years, but will it eventually lead to you making a ton of money? Or will you be back here in a few years asking this same question at 40 because you keep jumping from thing to thing? I've seen guys join a trade at 40 years and old, and yeah they're old apprentices, but by age 45 they're making 80k a year and stable.

First question I haven't heard you answer is, what is your passion?

I see you kicking around with a bunch of place holder jobs, looking for another but what is it that you really like?

Is welding interesting to you? Or are you just doing it because you heard it makes money?

In any job field there are specialists and there are generalists. If you can become an in-demand specialist you can really up your earning potential.

Welder? Lots of those. Certified ASME high-pressure vessel welder? Not nearly as many. ASME Certified, and fluent in CAD and CNC welding and development? Hardly any.

Find your passion and become a 1%er in your field.

Thanks, dude. Great points. And great stories. Very inspirational. And you're right about using knowledge of multiple things to do one great thing. And like I said, I won't give up. It just gets discouraging at times. But we have power through. Appreciate the solid advice.

Change your career. -- stock market is mandatory, your own businness might be right to consider -- or a secondary income. Put your lessons online and pay someone to make great video edition and market the fuck out of it. Build an audience and sell courses online for dummies - oops, for ppl with difficulties. You can sell private lessons too. Forget your sallary, just use it as a base for your rocket. not to be your transportation.

I understand the more time u put in something the more u think its worth to keep going and hard to change paths, BUT, this is an old old old old old old well known misconception that make ppl gamble until they r broke instead of just stop. As the stoics say, receive with pride, but let it go without attachment.

Don't build a house unless u wanna sell it when its ready. Too much money for a middle class person, and a trap.
