On Monday I walked out of a restaurant because my LTR gave me some attitude and I haven't spoken to her since. I get a long message from her basically describing what she thinks the problem is (my exes, being humiliated in public) but I don't feel that is the case. I was more appalled by her attitude and her response. Let me explain.
When we are alone, we get physical. Nothing dramatic, no S&M/BDSM, just general rough-housing. Sometimes I slap her face and she slaps mine, both in a playful way, and it is fine. However, I refuse to be slapped in public-I see it as a major sign of disrespect. Back to the restaurant. I am sitting there, she greets me, and she grazes my face with her hand in a manner that reminds me of a playful slap. I reacted and called her on it, not to do it because we're in public. She says she didn't do it intentionally, but what really got me was her attitude behind it. The "I didn't even mean to do it" coupled with a bitchy "I don't care" when I said I didn't want to argue about it, that I was just telling her why I was perturbed. I didn't like her attitude and couldn't keep frame enough to let it slide so I walked out.
So really my problem is with her attitude. It was basically "I don't give a fuck because I didn't mean to do it and I don't care how you feel." If she had just acknowledged it in a calm way it would have been a non-issue.
How should I have handled this and what can I do better if there is a next time or to fix myself in general?
