When your body is fasting, it produces growth Hormones that burns fat instead of muscle. This hormone is suppressed when you eat so your body can process the food.

HGH deficiency is also tied to higher body mass so it helps to schedule your eating habits to really get in the swing of producing more HGH and as a side effect cutting a meal out for reduced caloric intake.

Consistently fasting is a great way to get your body leaner and on an eating schedule but of course ask your nutritionist or trainer.

i switched up to keto and IF about 10 months ago. coupled it with some major revisions to my workout regime. lost 30 lbs in 2 1/2 months, and have kept it all off since then. am down a total of 40 lbs now, am at my ideal weight and just maintaining. not doing hardcore keto, but still mainly avoiding carbs, definitely still avoiding processed carbs and sugars, and still do IF during my M-F, 8am-5pm work week. Basically I eat lunch and dinner, and get 2000 calories a day.

It's been a resounding success for me, and I've got friends and family that have all started trying keto and IF, and it works for them too as long as they stay disciplined with it.

One key for me was discovering bulletproof coffee. I do an easy version of it, basic black coffee with a bit of butter in it. Not enough fat calories to take me out of fasting mode, but enough to keep me from being hungry in the morning. And you gotta drink a ton of water. I put lemon juice in my water and have grown to love it.

IF definitely has its benefits if your lifestyle allows it. I started my RP journey 6months ago with a big emphasis on body health and biochemistry optimization through IF, daily cold showers (most important one IMO, check the Wim Hoff method), ketogenic diet (check Dr Berg on YT), consistent heavy lifting, quality sleep and meditation. I've lost belly, cheecks and love handle fat and found it easier to gain strength and muscle. I feel better than ever physically and mentally : the morning cognitive improvement of skipping breakfast is insane (even better with coffee). I can focus longer on much harder tasks and there's no energy drop before noon as your brain is fueled with ketones and not glucose. I have not checked my T levels but I definitely feel more aggressive, assertive and sex-driven. It feels good, I hope it's not placebo. Inflammation is low, rest periods are also shorter (low carbs diet ftw) and weekly PR are rolling, I'm still in the newbie phase so nothing too crazy.

I think that the cognitive improvement and maybe a bit of fat loss are mainly caused by IF, but in combination with the rest, it's probably an overall healthy lifestyle shift that might grant the best results. Considering going one meal a day (OMAD) now.

Studies show it's working. I honestly lack discipline to got through with it and I also believe that a clean diet with a low carb percentage should be enough if you are also lifting or training MMA at least three times a week.

It is a useful tool to lower your caloric intake and practice exercising willpower. Don’t get too hung up on it.

Yeah. I cut back from 230 to 190 in the course of four months doing IF/Keto and regular lifting. Test levels were definitely elevated and I felt more focused. It's hard to keep up though if you travel a lot for work. I stuck to an 18/6 my meals started at Noon and ended at 6 pm. Make sure your water intake is high though I was at a gallon and a half a day. It helped me get through being hungry and you'll shed a lot of water.

I tried IF for 2 month and lost about 10 pounds. Felt less hungry throughout the day. I think it is a good way to experiment your own body.
