Background: Adult, beta, no fear personality type, can't dance, love party music, introverted, can get laid somewhat easily.

Goal: Learning how to dance competently (night clubs, weddings, parties).

Reason: I want to master something that everybody seems to enjoy for reasons I can't understand, just so I won't die never having experienced it.

Problem: Dancing looks stupid to me. Nothing inside me makes me want to dance, even when I hear music I love. To me, dance doesn't feel like an appropriate expression of enjoying music. The thought of doing so makes me cringe, because the whole idea is stupid, foreign and forced to me.

Attempted solution: Watching dance videos on YouTube, reading articles and tutorials and doing the Hitch-thing.

Results: I cringe throughout the whole act and I can't get rid of that feeling. I think it's stupid and I don't understand what I'm supposed to like about it. I can't get into it.

I can say right away that the problem isn't inhibition, because I don't fear it. I just don't get it.

Anyone else been like this and got through it as part of their personal development?

Not dancing is not an option. There has to be a way.
