How did you best make a decision when the outcomes for both were unclear?
Here's my situation:
I'm working full time and starting a business, but need to decide if I should move
OPTION 1: (I've already lived here for 9 months and like it well)
Living with rich financially successful person who's my age but makes more than 175k a year. I don't need to sign a lease to rent a room in their house, I have access to a majority of their resources, and they have connections with the higher to upper level rich in the area. They understand that I'm working on a business, sympathize, and don't mind my constant work hours as they are always working/ traveling as well. House is spotless, has rich person amenities, and I don't need to worry about anything except paying rent as all else is covered.
Downsides to option 1: Need to drive 30 minutes to get to work. Everything is dependent on my car working. I have access to successful person's vehicles, but I don't want to rely on them that heavily. I also will need to spend savings on fixing car anytime it has issues. There is no lease, rich person could sell house and move at anytime/deal could end for any reason though that's not likely.
OPTION 2:(known this person for a year but have not lived with them)
Living with an extremely fit, socially successful person. Highly socially adept, excels in combat sports, and can teach me everything I need to know about being fit, staying fit, and excelling in hand to hand combat. This person is NOT financially rich, but works hard and always pays rent on time. They are willing to move to an affordable location where I can walk to work, live near plenty of attractive women, and walk to the coffee shop where I do the majority of my business calls/ work.
Downsides to option 2: Have to constantly sign year long leases. Costs the exact same as option 1. Apartment's not that great, just in a great location. Never lived with this person before, but have known them for about a year and they are very well respected among our friends. He asked if I wanted to live with him, and is willing to move to a location that's best for me. I did not initiate this.
This seems like a coin toss to me. I'm leaning more towards option 2 due to not needing a car anymore, and being able to walk to work,. Everyone in both these scenarios is between the ages of 23 to 27.
How did you make your difficult decisions that seem like coin tosses in life?
My Priorities: STABILITY. My business is making money, and I'm good at what I do. I need things to not change at all until I'm stable. Working a full time job, and working a business has been taxing mentally. The less I can worry about other things while I do this, the better. If I could live with my parents and just pay them rent while I do this, I would. But that's not an option.
