It’s not because I’m unpopular. I just don’t feel like I wanna be friends with anyone. All I do is form useful connections with people (people who‘ll have my back in a fight, or give me free weed, or who I can hang out with if I just want to spend time outside, etc.) This works well, I have a much better social network than most of my peers.
But there’s nobody I want to hang out with for the sake of hanging out. Sometimes I do want to hang out with someone, but after one or two times I get tired of it again and cut contact. I prefer to be alone and 100% in control of what I’m doing.
Has anyone of you guys experienced this? Is it normal? Am I just not making enough effort to meet people?
Edit: in some ways my social network is much worse than other people‘s. I don’t have a circle of close friends. Nobody knows what I’m really doing in my life, except me. I think it would be good if I had a circle of friends that actually know me. Also, all those “useful connections” I have are becoming useless now (don’t smoke weed, don’t get into fights, etc.). I’m 18 years old
