Convo tips?

I assume you're having trouble finding a jumping off point for a conversation.

In my experience, the best trick is to find a contextual opening. I can remember this one time a girl started talking to me because I laughed at her when she missed the step going out of the bar and said, "That step gets everyone."

I'd also suggest non-sexual bullshitting with service people makes good practice. If a cashier says something more than just hello, work with it. Tellers at banks. Wait staff. Anyone.

Beyond that, the biggest things to learn are:

1) A failed conversation isn't the end of the world.

2) You'd be astonished how many people are relieved that someone took off the burden of initiating conversation.

Just treat them like friends if you struggle with conversation and need practice. Take the pressure off by telling yourself you don't even need to try and get a number. Make some simple observations about what they're wearing, ask a few questions, and peace out.

Make them take about themselves. Try to listen and ask questions based on what you hear. Start touching them when you get bored.

If I were to be perfectly honest, for me personally, it’s all trial and error. You do as much approaching as possible, the elderly, guys, girls, basically anything with the capacity to hold a conversation you should aim to instigate something with. It shouldn’t have to be a 30 min convo, it could last to as short as a min. Just as long as you put yourself out there, you’ll both consciously and unconsciously develop social skills that others will envy and at times you’ll even surprise yourself. All you have to do is just take the first step and take a chance.
