I know the feeling, I would call it existential dread, everything is fine, you have everything you need to be happy, but you're not. Something is missing.

Is these something that you really enjoy doing? Do your like your job other than the income?

I’ve been in this situation many times. Although it feels everything is going great, I’ve learned that growth equals aliveness. Progress is happiness.

What are some goals you can set for yourself? Run a a marathon in a year? Create a 2K a month sidebusiness? Pick up that hobby you liked as a kid?

You need to have things to look out to again

I have been here, and still am, but here’s what helps.

Get a profile on your hormone levels if you haven’t already. Higher testosterone levels, correlate with lower cortisol levels, and vice versa. And don’t just make sure your testosterone levels are up to par, but also make sure your natural estrogen levels are within a healthy male range too. Many guys neglect it, but estrogen is important for social behavior and brain function among others; low T is also associated with low E in males.
Whatever you fall back on and find that you enjoy looking at/doing/researching in your spare time, keep doing it. Whatever hobby has piqued your interest permanently. I have gone through a variety of phases where I enjoyed different hobbies before they’d fade on me, but one thing I cannot stop doing is my obsessive love of exotic animals; telling myself I want another snake is enough to motivate me right out an unemployed slump into a job and sometimes into girl’s beds. It sounds stupid, but anything that drives your inner child is jet fuel for the soul.
Make sure you get enough greens in your diet. A few grams of spinach a day can do wonders for mood and energy levels.
Zoloft sucks ass.

my prescription for getting out of depression:

go to doctor. get blood work for vitamins, minerals, hormones, inflammatory markers. fix with diet. Use cronometer to track your micros. eat Keto for a month, then switch to Paleo. Eat fish regularly (for the lithium, iodine, and Omega 3). Exercise is also highly anti-inflammatory
read Feeling Good by Burns. It popularized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Do the exercises. Helps avoid thinking traps that lead to depression
get a good sleep every night. I take Webber Super Sleep (melatonin, L-Theanine, 5-HTP, all natural)
read The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook. Do the exercises

Get blood tested if you havent already. Were all chemicals and you may be low on magnesium or vitamin D. This can lead to depression. Also do you mouth breath?

I used an SSRI for 17 years at one point. It helped, but wasn’t enough. What I did that helped immensely was add herbal supplements to “top it up”

Here’s the best ones for me, in order of effectiveness:

Tribulus Terristris (this allowed me to quit Paxil altogether - but you gotta dose big - I currently take 15g a day)

Ginkgo Biloba: I take about 7g day

Panax Ginseng: I used to take this but stopped - works well tho

Rhodiola: took this in the past too

There are more but start there and I guarantee you’ll feel better. I’ve been in your shoes so I know what’s up. Ignore those idiots who have no experience with depression - they may mean well but are clueless

All I want to do is lay down and do nothing. And when I do nothing I feel I am wasting my life and I get depressed. But neither want to do anything.

Feel like this all the time. Unless you're sleep-deprived from staying up too late on work nights for several days, it doesn't fix anything.

Find something to do, even if it's cleaning up something around the house or going for a walk. Anything is better than that.

sounds like you deserve to be lonely and depressed so you can realize how lucky you are to have all those things you mentioned you have

or you can quit being a bitch, and get busy living
