Does morality even exist?

In my life experience so far, morals disappear into thin air when interests are at stake. Whether it be personal or business relates.

Don't let it bother you much. If you run into immoral things, ask yourself if it is impacting you. If not, it is not worth to spend energy on.

Always assume people will act in their own self interest. Primal life requires a degree of narcissism to survive long enough to reproduce.

Human civilization has moved beyond to form larger hierarchical relationships that require a sense of right vs wrong to survive.

Put your energy into healthy mutually beneficial activities and friendships only. Be the example to others and do not spend precious energy trying to change that which you cannot.

Hobbe's Social Contract theory suggests we're moral for self-interested reasons. Kant's ethics are also along the lines of "do what you you'd want to be done to you."He really rallied for universalizability in morality, basically don't do something unless that's what you'd want to have done ALL the time. Morality is circumstantial, there's just too many variables to take into account.

So it exists so far as you have a desire to be a functional part of society and reap the benefits of living in a society. How you swing it, depends on goals and priorities, your past, education, etc.

Good and evil is an archetype of polarity that will always exist. When it comes to people's morality, some are more calculating and logical, others are more caring and yielding just like with anything involving the psyche it covers the spectrum. Some people don't weight consequences at all in their determinations.

Ultimately, you are responsible for yourself and you cannot expect anything from anyone. Lack of expectation of others doesn't mean you give up on being the best person you can be.

perhaps the new morality is about right (rational) and wrong (irrational) not so much good and evil.

2+2=4 would be RATIONAL AND MORAL but it seems the logic in todays society would say 2+2=5 which is IRRATIONAL AND IMMORAL.

If you lurk TRP regularly you'll notice moralizing comments are not allowed, that's for a good reason.

Morality is binary thinking in action. This thing is right, this thing is wrong. It is a helpful tool to avoid thinking by yourself and building your own rules.
