You don't have to hold anything in, permanently. You just don't want to verbally spew your emotions onto another person. They don't care.

Find another, healthier outlet for your emotions. Lifting, sports, fucking etc.

Yes, there was this girl with huge tits that dumped me. The solution was easy, get another cute girl to get those tits off my mind. Yet my brain fucked with me and I got depressed and lost all motivation. Overtime you learn to overcome things, the next pair of huge tits that decides to bounce won't hurt as much as the first.

It's like a muscle you have to train (law 4 - always say less than necessary, etc). It's something that comes with time.

You're not necessarily suppressing your emotions just being more conscious of when to express them.

Self mastery (which includes self control) is the most important skill you will ever work on in your life.

Having the ability to control your emotions, push away the bad ones, change your thoughts to allow the good ones to flourish.

If you don't relieve your stress and find ways to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones, yes, you will explode.

Read Letter 3 of Seneca’s “Moral Letters to Lucillius”. Letter 3 is “On True Friendship”.

The gist is, it’s okay to complain to your actual friends from time to time. Always bottling is just as damaging as never bottling. There’s a lot more nuance to this concept as defined in Letter 3, so you should still read it.
