This is a girl I was seeing (exclusively, it wasn't agreed to by both of us) for 6 months on two different occasions ending in 2012, just before I started dating my current squeeze.

Her birthday is February 23. She emailed me last night inviting both my current squeeze and I over for lunch today. My current squeeze is out of town with her family, and when I told her she said I should go anyway and see how she's doing, which was my inclination anyway.

I go down to her place yesterday and one of the first things she says to me was where the current squeeze is. I told her she was out of town with family. The ex invites me in and I get reacquainted with her cats, whom I was assured, have missed me (how the cat knew who I was and had the capacity to miss someone is beyond me, but I think she was projecting).

She made a hearty lunch for 3, so there were leftovers. After lunch, she said that if current squeeze doesn't marry me, she'd like to have the "honour". Sticking to the truth again, I said I had no interest in getting married -- I just wanted a friendly voice and smile around in case I feel down.

It was obvious to me that she wanted more than just to have us over for lunch, rather she wanted me back in her life. I'd be ok with this, except that we broke up for a good reason (aside from the current squeeze being a better match for me) and that reason has not and probably will never go away.

As I was leaving, she invited us to her place at her birthday. So, my question for the denizens of /r/asktrp is, do I go at all? Shall I bring current squeeze or was she just being polite about the whole thing? I know our past has not been perfect, but I'm unable to change it, so how do I steer her to realise that we're not a good match, full stop?
